I have quite a few piercings in my ears, labret, belly button, nose, and tongue. I felt the urge to get another piercing, but I was totally broke. My birthday was coming up, and for it, my friend Genny decided she would pay for another piercing of my choice. I wasn't sure what to get, but I figured I had enough in my ears, and since this was a birthday present, I wanted it to be a cool piercing. I had been looking at piercing websites for jewelry ideas and found the tongue web piercing. I instantly fell in love with it, and as an added bonus, it wasn't visible. It was good for work, because unless you find a cool job, most places don't go for facial piercings. It was good for my parents, because I live at home and they didn't want me to get any more piercings. It's not really something people would notice unless I specifically showed them, which I didn't mind. So it was decided. I would get a tongue web piercing.
At A Glance Author katie Contact katie@bme.anon When Three months ago Studio hair garage We went downtown and tried the first tattoo/piercing place. This place had just opened the guy seemed really hesitant and almost scared while we talked about pricing and his experience, so we pretended we were just browsing and got the hell out of there. The next place we went to had been in town for awhile, and I had some of my other piercings done there. The guy working told me that I had basically no web to pierce and that he wouldn't do it. We were pissed off, so we left that place and went to the shop where I got my labret pierced. We checked out the prices and looked through a few of the photo books so I could make sure I wanted my web pierced for sure. The lady and her assistant did mention how small my web was, but they agreed to do it as long as I could keep my tongue straight up long enough to get the job done. I figured it wouldn't be that hard and I agreed. So there I was, sitting in this tiny room. And not only was it tiny, but it was hot. Stifling. I thought I was going to pass out because of the heat. I'm not really queasy about needles or anything, but the heat made me feel like I was going to pass out. I rinsed with Listerine, sat down in the chair and got my bib of paper towels to stop the drool. The lady dotted the web perfect the first time, so she clamped and the fun began.
Keeping my tongue straight up on to the roof of my mouth wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, especially after rinsing with the yellow flavor of Listerine. It made my whole mouth, especially my tongue kind of burn like hell, and then it feel extremely weird, and I kept wanting to let my tongue relax, but I was hell bent on getting this piercing, so I did my best. I got kind of nervous right as the needle was coming toward my web because I had kind of a bad experience with my tongue, and I didn't know anyone who had their web pierced, so I wasn't sure how bad the pain was going to be. The lady shoved the needle through just fine and tried to get the jewelery in. It kind of hurt, and by this time I was sweating like crazy, but I was relieved because it was almost over. Just kidding. The needle popped out. She had to pierce it again. She got the needle through, but again couldn't get the jewelry in. I sat there for almost 15 minutes while she tried to get the jewelry in and THEN get the tiny ball on the other end. My hot, Listeriney breath was in her face, both her hands were in my little mouth, and I was drooling like no man's business. Plus, it was hot and I was getting dizzy, and my tongue wouldn't stay up... Basically, it was a real bitch to get pierced. Maybe it was because it was a barbell and not a captive bead. I wasn't about to get a captive bead, though, because not only did I want a barbell, but I really hate captive beads with a passion. Don't ask. She finally got the jewelry in, and I was relieved AGAIN that it was finally over, and hoped to God the jewelry wouldn't come out or anything.
I seriously paid that girl $1 a minute that day. She had a $15 tip by the time she was through because I felt like such a pain in the ass. The piercing healed extremely fast and I was eating the same day. The only thing that really sucked was trying to stretch my tongue left to right or out, and that hurt a little bit. It feels fine now, and I totally love it.
