I have wanted to get my tongue pierced since I was sixteen years old. Two years was a very long wait. So, when my Mom agreed to sign (ironically right before my 18th birthday) I started to research this type of piercing. I strongly recommend looking it up before you go through with it, because it's always good to go in, and know what is going to happen.

I picked the day, which was September 27th, 2002. The night before I could hardly sleep. In the morning My Mom and I went first to see our horse at the trainers, and I couldn't pay attention! After that and the store to pick up some soft foods, I was off to the piercers. I went to the place I got my tattoo, and was hoping that the girl I met before, Amy, would be the one doing it, and she was. I felt really comfortable with her, cause she talked with me and my Mom, and was really nice.

After signing the forms, and when she was done getting the room ready, she led me and my Mom back to the room. It was very clean, and nice looking. Amy got out the needle, and everything she needed. I picked the titanium barbell, because I have sensitivities to certain metals, and I heard it was lighter. So she set out 5 different colors, and said those were the only ones left. So after looking at them, I picked the package that had the blue barbell in it. Amy filled a plastic cup up with some mouth wash, and had me rinse, while she and my Mom were talking. I spit it out, and got in the chair. She took my tongue, and put a dot on it, then got the clamps. She said she was checking for veins, and used a flash light to do it. Right before she pierced me, she told me when she is doing it, not to jerk my tongue in, or to move, or grab her arm or anything. That made me wonder if someone has grabbed or hit her while piercing them. Finally she said she was going to have m e breath, and she would pierce me. I breathed in then out, and it was going in. At first, it wouldn't go through the bottom, and it really hurt. I was afraid that while the needle was in my tongue that i would move it in my mouth, but I didn't. it was like my tongue was paralyzed actually. It was a little embarrassing, because I started to tear up, but didn't really cry. Then she but the ball in, and told me she was screwing the ball on. It was done, and she told me to put my tongue in my mouth. Then I was told to rinse my mouth out again with the half of the mouthwash that was left, for as long as i could stand it. I was really happy, because I thought I might actually chicken out, but wasn't going to let myself. I wanted it so long, so I wasn't going to NOT get it. I thanked Amy, payed her(all together it was 70, 60 for the piercing and a 10 dollar tip, cause she was good).

After my Mom and I left, We stopped by Mcdonalds to get me something cold to drink. So I got a cup of ice(my new best friend) and a large sprite. I couldnt' really suck on the ice, or even spit it out. So after buying the biotene at Rite Aid, I got a slurpee.

Tonight is the third night, and so far it hasn't been really bad. I've been taking Ibuprofen, so the swelling isn't really bad. I can only imagine how bad it would be without it, because like I said, it's not too bad, but it's still swollen. I was expecting so much pain, and it's really not that bad. It only really hurts on the underside of my tongue. But if i relax, and not really do anything with it, I can't feel any pain, honest. I must be lucky, because I hear about how bad it is(the healing time) It's just uncomfortable right now. I can't wait until I can eat. I can now, but I mean actually take bites of my food. I have a lisp, which is funny, because I talk a little funny anyway, so it just adds to it. I have to rinse my mouth out with biotin, after I eat, but noticed that I rinse it to much, just out of my being paranoid of infection. Amy told me no listerine, because it can actually be bad to rinse my mouth out that much.

All in all, I am very happy with it, and can't stop looking at my tongue. It's been a heck of a long wait, but it was all worth it. I love it. If anyone is in West Virginia, and want a good piercer, go to No Limit, in Clarksburg and ask for Amy. She is really nice, and a heck of a great piercer. I love it already.
