Ever since I was in high school I have always been fascinated with piercings, tattoos and body modifications. At 13 I already had about 12 earrings (unfortunately pierced with a piercing gun). One thing that I had always found repulsive though was the tongue piercings. Not the look of them, but the way that people flaunt them. Every time I got on a bus there was some blond, parasuco-wearing teeny bopper pulling out her tongue to a mirror, playing with her jewelry or relating to some other teeny-bopper friend some sexual encounter where her tongue ring did most of the work.

Despite this, the concept of oral piercing always appealed to me. I briefly considered getting my lip or labret pierced but having something that obvious would, I thought, maybe become an inconvenience in the future. Lip webs are pretty cool but my friend had one and I wanted my own thing. So that is how I landed on the idea of getting my tongue web pierced.

The tongue web obviously seemed like a perfect choice. It would'nt be obvious, which is perfect, because my mother hates the body piercings I have which are visible and my boss feels the same way. But the major bonus for me was that no one else I knew or heard of had it, so it would be totally unique.

I decided on this at the beginnning of this summer. Of course, my um financiary status would not allow me such costly procedure until late august (when my birthday money came in haha). So I made an appointement to get the piercing on my first day of school.

I decided a long time ago to go to Black Sun to get it done. It seemed to me that since not many people have gotten this done, I should most definitely go to the best place I could find to make sure it would'nt screw up. And even though some people say Adrenaline is the best place in Montreal, well email me and I'll tell you some stories about my friends' experiences and maybe you'll change your mind.

Black Sun is definitely the best place I have ever been to. It is so clean and thank god no punk music blasting to make you nervous. It looks like a private clinic. I wasn't really scared of getting the piercing but I was kind of scared of the healing process.

After a fifteen minute waiting period we finally went in. Pierre showed the jewelry he would use and went through several hand cleaning processes. I then rinced my mouth with mouthwash, touched the tip of my tongue to my teeth, breathed in and exhaled as I feel the cold steel, the flesh (?) being perforated and the usual rush of adrenaline. After this he asked me to just stay calm while he was getting ready to insert the jewelry. All I had to say was "my tongue feels huge". How clever. The 14 gauge cbr was insert quite easily but it was harder to screw in the ball. That actually took two tries. But the whole procedure was absolutely painless.

I was amazed when I looked at it. It was so cool just seeing metal there. My boyfriend was also pretty impressed. I was actually really surprised when Pierre told me the aftercare procedure. No sucking ice, which I thought was important, Oral B alcohol free mouthwash instead of Listerine and I could smoke, eat, drink in moderation. Of course I slowed down smoking a lot at first because I was afraid that it would make me heal slower.

Afterwards I went to my boyfriend's house and bought M&Ms on the way. Bad idea. I felt as if I was about to chew my own jewelry. But after a few days eating gets really easy and I don't even notice the difference now. Carrying mouthwash everywhere is kind of annoying too but hey, I want to keep my mouth healthy. Also it is such an amazing feeling to play with the jewelry inside your mouth, it really makes class seem faster. Everybody I have shown my piercing to thinks that it's pretty cool and yet freaky at the same time. Actually now that I think about it most people haven't even seen it. Like I said before I hate flaunting my piercings. But the people who have seen it all went "whoa that is freaky". But they all agree that it much more original and better than regular tongue rings. In the future there is a lot of piercings I want to go but first I need money. Unless I start a "Get me pierced" charity and everyone gets to contribute...... hum not a bad idea....

So that was my story. If you have any questions just email me , and if you want to get this done do it it's so cool, so painless, just an amazing experience and if you are in Montreal go check out Black Sun it's really the greatest place.
