Well let me start from the beginning. I have always wanted to get something in my mouth pierced but getting your tongue pierced is over rated and a scrumpter piercing sounded cool but I have heard to many complaints and then my friend got her tongue web pierced and I loved it. I thought it was different and it can so easily be hid. Originally I was going to get it done back home (Ontario) but it didn't happen that way. I am in BC visiting my dad for five weeks and so I decided that now is the perfect time. Well the first day I arrived I looked around at different places. 13th Level was the first place that I went into. My friend Kirbi (female) came with me because she too wanted a piercing or tattoo.
At A Glance Author Mel Contact punk_sex_kitten@hotmail.com When A week ago Artist Rob Newton Studio Sun City Tattoos Location 259 Main St Penticton BC When we finally got in the place I noticed how laid back it was, there was a T.V, and the 2 guys that worked there were really fun to talk to. So kirbi decided on wolf paws on her hips and so she got that done. Well the one guy said that he wouldn't do an "extreme" piercing like a tongue web and that I would have to wait for the other guy to come in. Well I waited and then they discovered they didn't have the right gauge to pierce my tongue web with. They told me to come back in a week because they ordered it in.
Well a week later I came back and guess who still wasn't in. Yea the guy who does it still hadn't showed up for work. I decided then that I was going elsewhere. So I set off in search of another place. I just walked down Main St and whenever a tattoo place appeared I went in and inquired. The first place did no mouth related piercing's at all. And so my journey continued. I finally came across Sun City Tattoo's.
Honestly it is the coolest tattoo place I have ever seen. The walls are covered with tattoo designs and it just appeared very clean. A girl about my age greeted me and asked what I wanted done. The whole time I was thinking Please say you do this, please please please. Well when I told her my tongue web she took one look at me, lifted her tongue and asked "this". Yes finally a place that did it.
I sat down and waited for 15 minutes, finally it was my turn. So I went back and I was asked to gurgle with that icky Listerine crap. Even worse it was the yellow Listerine crap. So after my whole mouth was numb he asked me to lay down on this doctor looking thing. He shone this really bright light on me and asked me to open my mouth and keep my tongue at the roof of my mouth. Yes easier said then done. Here I am trying to keep my tongue to the roof of my mouth and breath and swallow normally. He inspected my tongue web to make sure it was possible. He told me he couldn't pierce it way back because of the veins, but it was possible. So then came the fun part. He clamped my tongue web and got a brand new needle out to pierce it with. He told me to take deep breaths and remain calm. Well before I knew it the needle was straight through and I didn't feel a thing. I think it is funny how some people say it hurt like hell and really how can it. Little did I know that the real fun part was just coming up. The little silver ring was in but the ball that goes on the ring is a whole different story. Here I am with my tongue on the roof of my mouth still and a man trying so hard to get this tiny silver ball on. Well my tongue was getting tired, well if that is possible then that is how I felt. Well he finally decided to clamp my tongue so I had to hold my clamped tongue, which was probably the most painful part of the whole procedure. 15 minutes later the ball was on. Victory.
I was then told how to take care of my new piercing. He told me to go buy the icky yellow Listerine that seems to numb my mouth. I was told to rinse whenever I drink or eat anything. He told me to also drink a lot of iced drinks because it may not swell today but it will swell within the next few days. I paid him and thanked him. And they told me to come back any time.
Well I headed over to my dad's work. I felt like I was talking funny but apparently not because my dad didn't even notice till I showed him. Well then came show and tell. Everyone wanted to see and know how it felt and if it hurt. There were a lot of mixed emotions. Some people felt that it was really different and cool. Others just gave dirty looks. My dad said he thought it was cute.
That night at dinner I found out what he meant when he said it would eventually swell. It didn't hurt till I ate. We were having spaghetti and well mine ended up looking like baby food because I had to cut it up so small. I brushed and rinsed and then I was fine. It hurt for a couple of days after but nothing unbearable. The only thing I have noticed is the fact that my mouth is really dry when I wake up in the morning.
Well it has been about 2 weeks now and the only thing that I really detest is calcium deposits on the ring. I have been brushing them off but a couple of days ago I went back to sun city to find out what gauge I was pierced with. Well this is a funny story because neither the girl nor Rob Newton could remember if it is a 16g or 18g. So I have to go back in like a week so he can take it out measure it and then put it back in. I also asked about the calcium deposits and I told him that I have been brushing it off. Apparently I am not supposed to do that. He said it would get worse before it gets better. He said by brushing it off I am aggravating it and in another week it should settle down.
I will tell you right now that I am not telling my mom because she thinks that I will die if I get anything done in my mouth because of my heart condition. But I need to live in the now. She already hates that I am a punk rock princess and now this; oh my she would kill me. So it is my little secret. I talked to a doctor and a dentist and they said with proper hygiene I am fine.
But I recommend it to any one who wants to get it done. It is different and fun. I love it and I am very glad I went through with it. If you have any questions just e-mail at punk_sex_kitten@hotmail.com or if I am on msn ask away.
