I am forteen and I wanted a tongue piercing for a really really long time. For 4 months at least. Well anyway, I lived with my mom at the time and she always told me no. She would always say, "No. It's stupid and ugly!" So I just waited until I moved to my Dad's house at the beginning of summer. Because I knew he would let me since he is cool and mellow about that kind of stuff.

So when I got to my Dad's I asked him when he would take me and he said, next week. I was so excited. So a week later on a Friday afternoon, my dad and I walked to the piercing studio where I would soon meet the piercer who pierced my cousin's tongue. Everyone said he was the best piercer around so I wasn't really nervous about him being crappy or anything.

So we get there and the piercer was out to lunch. So we signed all the papers and walked back home and waited for about 45 minutes until he would be back. This was the most anticipating part. I called one of my friends and just kept telling her how weird this was, how I was going to get my tongue pierced finally. So 45 minutes later we went back and the guy called us in and said, " rite on down to the blue room." When we got to his office the walls were painted blue and there were piercing pictures all over the walls. He told me to sit down and then came the worse part.

He gave me a cup of Listerine and said, " swish this around your mouth for about 30 seconds." he timed me and then I spit it out into the little Dixie cup. It burned so much! It was literally the worse part of the procedure. He then wiped my tongue with a paper towel and marked with a purple marker thing. As he unwrapped all his piercing crap and barbell he slid over to me in his chair and said, " O.K. stick it out again."

I stuck my tongue out; he clamped it, and stuck the needle in as fast as possible and followed through with the 14-G barbell. It was over so fast! It felt kind of like a shot. He talked to me for about 10 minutes about the aftercare and stuff and then I gave him my sixty dollars and walked to circle k and got a huge bottle of Listerine.

The first couple of days it was a little sore and swollen. But not as swollen as I thought it was going to get. Then the past 3 days it hasn't hurt at all, and I can actually eat REAL food after 2 and a half days of eating jello and pudding. But I still gargle with Listerine for 30 seconds after every time I eat. I tried to eat some salmon the second day I had it but that didn't turn out too good. It kept getting caught on my barbell. And it really hurt when I had to brush it clean when it was still sore. So I was really stupid when I did that. And sometimes when I eat stuff I bite my barbell on accident. It really sucks. But I think I have mastered eating with a tongue ring now. It's so weird because I barely even talked weird after I got it. And now it just feels like I never even got it pierced!

About 2 days after I got it, the day I ate the salmon, I went to my aunt's house for my 5-year-old cousin's birthday party. And my great grandparents were there! OH NO! I was so scared that they were going to see it but I got threw the whole day without them seeing it! I thought they did though because I yawned and of course when u yawn u can see your tongue but they're old so they didn't see it! I think that's the only disadvantage of piercings is that your grandparents can see it.

In 2 days i am going back into the studio to get my shorter barbell, since he gave me a really long one in case if it got swollen. And if anyone wants to get their tongue pierced they should totally do it because it doesn't hurt AT ALL. And the piercer was REALLY REALLY good and professional about his job. And I am really glad I went to this guy to get my tongue pierced because I did not want some freak to do a really shitty job!

having gotten my tongue pierced, i highly recommend you getting it pierced too.(if you're in to that kind of thing of course.)
