For a while I had yearned to stab through my tongue web. I'm restricted to discrete piercings - as I'm 15 and have very anti-piercing parents - and this seemed perfect. It's really cute and barely visible. Being underaged, I stupidly attempted this myself a few months ago. I didn't actually do that badly, but quickly realised that I couldn't get the jewelry in, and decided not to retry for fear of fucking up my speech. I've done a few myself, but they required more brute force than skill; I thought this was a job for professionals with a clamp.

I HAD to get this done finally, as I knew they were pretty slack with age ID and everything over there. This was probably a stupid reason, but I looked around through all of them, and I found one which seemed particularly clean and friendly. The incredibly fit piercer corroborated my decision.
Every piercing was 30 euros (£20, $28) which made me pretty happy. They didn't even ask for ID or anything. This all sounds really dodgy, but EVERYwhere was like that; just completely different standards. They may have asked my age if I didn't have my septum ring in and everything... anyhoo, I wasn't too worried about their professionality because of that.
I swear; my piercer was the most beautiful man I've ever seen (2nd - but we won't go into that): David. "Daveeth", so that REALLY helped me relax. It was kinda difficult to communicate, because he didn't speak any English, but I'm OK at Spanish and we got this sign-language broken-Spanish thing going without much problem. He was only 18 and I kept admiring all his tatts and everything (teehee!).
As it turns out; my tongue is deformed. David spent almost half an hour trying to get me to suck it (my tongue!) up to the roof of my mouth, which I really couldn't do. He 'ummed' and 'aahed' as to whether he would pierce me at all because my frenulum was particularly small or something. I BEGGED he agreed to try, as I had a just-big-enough frenulum.
He asked whether I wanted a ring or bar, and although I heard that bars could house plaque and stuff, I went for it because I really like the way they look on this piercing, so he got out this 14ga 10mm bent barbell. So, off we go... shit-flavoured mouth wash, gloves, etc. This was my first professional piercing and I'd heard the clamps hurt more than the needle (not a problem - I have a real pain fetish) so was disappointed when I barely felt them. He told me to breathe, and then apparently the needle was through, but I didn't feel it. The only thing that was hurting was my jaw, being open so long. He then told me in Spanish to keep very still, he was going to put the jewellery in... and I almost fucking DIED when he went "oops!" ARGH!!! that was SO not what I needed to hear!!! It seems that because I can't do that sucky thing, I'd moved my tongue after being told to keep it still, and he hadn't been able to put the jewelry in. He wanted me to come back in an hour, but I ha d to go back to the hotel in half an hour!!! He asked if I felt light headed or anything, and I really didn't. I love pain and I'm used to having needles stuck in me. He was a little unwilling to do it, but he agreed to try again. New mouthwash, gloves, jewellery (I was impressed!) and we were ready to go. It went really smoothly the next time and when he handed me the mirror, I was so chuffed I hugged him (HA! I would have hugged him if he'd shoved it through my chin!) I was SO happy!
Next day, I wasn't talking with a lithsp or anything, but it felt like I had a lump of food under my tongue. I kept washing my mouth out with this gross antiseptic stuff about a million times a day, and the swelling went down completely by the second day.
A couple of weeks later, I noticed a little plaque, but all I did was bite the threaded balls to keep them still on the outside of my teeth, and go at them with a toothbrush!
It healed really quickly, and when I went to an English studio to get it downsized, they said he'd done it really well. I recommend this piercing to anyone: It's fun to chew, and looks good too. :)
