A year ago my cousin came from New York for a visit and got me addicted on piercings. She had her belly button pierced and she paid for me to get pierced too as a gift from her.

Ever since I was thinking of getting something else pierced since until I pierced my belly button I only had standard ear piercings. I new that my parents won't approve it (yes, even though I'm 32) and I was sure my bosses won't approve either so I did a lot research on the matter of choosing a place to pierce that I can show only to those I choose.

After an 8 months research I decided on the tongue piercing but I had problems finding a place here in Belgrade that actually does that kind of piercing. There's a place near my house that said on the door they do all kinds of piercings including tongue piercing. The funny thing was - when I came in and asked about tongue piercing the girl behind the counter gave me a piece of paper (not even a business card) with a cell phone number and said that I should call the piercer first and that she thinks it costs about 15$!. After a few days of constantly dialing the same number I finally got through to the piercer. When I asked how much is for a tongue piercing - he said they don't do that at all! After all I was right to be suspicious. It took me long time to find a suitable piercing place that I could trust. I consulted the Belgrade Yellow pages and found a place that I heard of before but didn't know where it was. Thank God it's near enough (it turned out to be on my way home from work). I went there without an appointment just to see what the place is like. It was small but very clean and they had quite an impressive portfolio. The lady behind the counter even gave me their business card with their site. After I checked it out I was absolutely sure that's where I'm going to go. I made an appointment for that Friday. The day came but I couldn't go because I had to stay at work late. To say that I was pissed would be putting it mildly. I called in and said I couldn't come and when is the first available appointment. There was a problem as far as booking an appointment because I work mornings but finally we agreed on 5:30 next Thursday. I wasn't too happy because I wanted to have at least one day to recuperate since I wasn't sure as to how my body would react on such a piercing. The next 5 days seemed like eternity. The only thing I could do was to try and concentrate on work and do some more research. I told no one but my brother and my best frie nd and there was no way I could explain anyone else why was I so nervo us. I called my brother to come with me (he has the car all time so I thought he could do ME a favor for a change) and after he promised 10 times the day before the appointment he'll come with me, he never showed up. He decided he was too scared to watch so I was on my own. The day came and I was nervous as hell. Almost missed my bus but made to the mall just in time. The mall the piercing/tattoo place is stationed in is like a labyrinth so it took me an additional 10 minutes to find the place.

When I came in I was greeting by the owner of the place Snezana. She was very calming and the place is very clean. While I was rinsing my mouth (with our equivalent of Listerine but just as disgusting) she told me everything I should know about the piercing and the procedure itself.

Since I had no additional questions she proceeded with the preparations. After putting the sterile gloves (just came out of the sterile package) she showed me the needle in its package and clamps (both sterile of course). She had a little trouble pulling out my tongue (it's a little short) she put the marks on and I checked in the mirror. I was more than satisfied. The lady put some spray on my tongue after she secured the clamps with a rubber band and when I saw the needle coming I couldn't help it and closed my eyes.

I only felt some pressure and she said it's over! I couldn't believe how fast she did it. I didn't bleed at all (I'm not a bleeder). I checked it out in the mirror AND I JUST LOVED IT! Now that I think I know only one more person with a tongue piercing in Belgrade besides me and that's my piercer Snezana.

I swelled up just a little bit next morning and that was it. I could eat solid food all the time and had no problems with it ever. Two weeks later I went for a shorter bar and now it looks simply gorgeous! Even though I have a short tongue I had no problems getting a center piercing and now my cousin in New York thinks of getting one too.

And I'm moving on - researching nipple piercing. 'Till a new stories - happy piercing!
