Well here goes...It all started when a friend told me he was going to Adelaide to get his nipple pierced, when I heard this I immediately had to go with him! It was still a few weeks away, so it gave me time to think. I've always been into piercings and body mods, so I was pretty excited for Josh.

Well the day came and Josh, myself and a few mates drove the three hour drive to Adelaide for Josh's piercing. We got to the piercing studio and Josh got his nipple done, then as a spur of the moment desision, I went up to the counter, and told them I'd like to get my tongue pierced! So I went into the small room, and then I started to get the shakes, you know the adrenaline pumping through your body and all that. Brenda -the woman that pierced me- had to go wash her hands and all of that, so I was left alone in this small, hospital-like smelling room to wait.

Anyway she came back and started talking to me about the piercing and how she was going to do it, but I was so pumped I couldn't tell you a word of what she said to me! The piercing was over before I knew it, and I didn't even feel a thing, so I had a look at it in the mirror and it looked GREAT! I was completely wrapped! So I asked her if she could put another one just behind the first one, she thought I was joking and sort of laughed, not realising that she had just hooked me onto something that has now become an obsession with me.

She eventually agreed to pierce me again and I had to rinse my mouth again. This time I felt as though I could hear everything, see everything, FEEL EVERYTHING! I was so alive! Big mistake...damn right I could feel everything! When she started to put that cold hard metal through my tongue for the second time that night, I felt as though she was going in slow motion, it hurt like crazy! But I sat still while tears flooded down my face and I felt as though I was going to throw up my yiros that I'd had for dinner.

Finally, after what seemed like a century to me, the second one was done. I walked into the waiting area where Josh and my mates were waiting for me, and showed them my double-studded tongue. They loved it almost as much as me!

A Few weeks later and my second piercing was fine, it was the first one that took the longest to heal for some reason. The one the hurt the most healed the fastest and the one I didn't feel was a pain in the arse to heal.

Six months later Josh and I were talking about what we were going to do for the upcoming weekend, both of us all cashed up, but in a small country town there's not too much to spend your money on apart from grog. We ended up deciding to go to Adelaide for the weekend.

So on the Friday night we drove to Adelaide and got to our hotel, with no plans to head down to the Four Roses Piercing Studio. We went for a walk to go get some dinner, but walked straight passed our usual eating place, and into Four Roses. Before we could sort of talk about what was going on, I had two more tongue studs.

This time I think I was a little more prepared for what was about to happen. I stayed calm and just let Brenda do her thing. Half an hour later I came out, barely able to talk, and BEAMING with excitement!

But before our weekend even really started mine sort of finished. My mouth was so sore I couldn't stand up let alone go out on the town! I had the biggest headache I think I've ever had, and I went hungry for almost two weeks, living on water, ice and diluted apple juice.

It has taken almost six months for my body to accept the two new piercings, but I can talk properly now. For about 3 months I was barely audible! I couldn't pronounce my "S's" or "Th", or "D's", well pretty much anything that required me to move my tongue too much!! I don't know if it's just my body - because I'm sure there are people out there that have been able to get the same piercings as me and be completely fine, but I just know that for about six months of my life I was in constant PAIN!! But if I could do it all over again, the only thin I would change would be to have gotten them done on the Sunday rather than the Friday, then at least I could've partied a little bit!

I have had other piercings since then, but my fave's are in my mouth!
