Well this is my story about getting my tongue web pierced. I've asked my mom if I could get my tongue pierced and I guess she's all against it, I don't know she's not very fond of it. Well I was like ok whatever I'll just wait till I'm 18. So I was on the computer checking out BME one day and saw the tongue web piercing and I thought kick ass I want that. So I showed it to my mom the other day and she's like well I actually kind of like that better then just the tongue so I was like hmm... I wonder if she'll let me get that pierced. So I decided to ask her a few weeks later and she said yes only if I pay for it and set up the appointment. WOOHOO! I was so damn happy.

So the next day I called up the shop that my ex boyfriend apprentices at and asked him if they would pierce tongue webs and he said of course. They were booked till Friday, which was another damn week! EH I don't have the patience to wait for something that I really REALLY want. But I survived.

So next week after school me and my mom went to the tattoo shop and signed all the papers and showed the ID and all that fun stuff. I picked out a 14g teflon curved barbell cause I thought it looked cute and waited for it to get sterilized. After that was done he gave me a cup with Listerine in it so I could rinse my mouth for a minute. Damn my mouth was burning. While I was doing that he was opening up all the packages and getting ready to pierce me. Minute later I'm laying back in the dentist looking chair and taking a couple of breaths cause I was a little nervous about this. Then he had my open my mouth and hold my tongue to the roof of my mouth and he clamped my web and marked the place. The clamp didn't really hurt so that was nice. I took a couple more breaths and counted to three and I felt this little pop when the needle went through the other side. By this time I had tears running down my face, I couldn't tell you why it didn't even hurt and I was drooling uncont rollably my mom was giving me so much shit about it. My jaw was starting to get tired too cause of holding my mouth open and sticking my tongue on the roof of my mouth for so long. I think it took him like a minute or two to get the ball on my barbell cause it was such a weird angle and small space to work with but when he finally got it on and showed me I fell in love with it. My mom thinks its pretty cool too.

On the way home it felt really weird in my mouth and I kept playing with it. I know I shouldn't have but it was hard. It didn't interfere with me eating or anything but it was kind sore from being swollen and I didn't really eat anything.

Aftercare was a pain in the ass but I stuck with it cause I wanted to take care of it. I had to rinse my mouth with Listerine and water solution every time I was done drinking anything other then water, smoking and eating. Sometimes I get a slight plaque buildup but I just brush it off with a toothbrush and using Listerine regularly helps with it.

After it was healed I switched to a straight barbell that I like a lot better. My boyfriend thinks it really cool and he's going to get his done, so it will be fun to play with each others. (wink wink) It really is fun to make out with my boyfriend now with this piercing. Some people think its cool and some think its gross. I really don't care I love it and I would totally recommend it to anyone.

What really sucks was about a year later my dentist told me that I had to get my wisdom teeth out and when I went to the oral surgeon so he could check out my mouth he told me that I had to remove my tongue web piercing because my mouth would swell and it could also get infected because of what will be going on in my mouth and it wouldn't be a good idea to leave the barbell in. That made me really sad. About a couple months after that I went back in and got it re pierced and I'm glad about that! I really missed the feeling of the barbell in my mouth but now I got it back and I'm just fine.
