This is the first experience I've written so I hope it's alright..!

I had my ears stretched to a 10 gauge...oooo big I know haha for a while and got my first tattoo when I decided that I wanted another piercing. After noticing just how many people had the same tattoo as me I thought that I shouldn't get a piercing that a lot of people will have. I also couldn't get something that my parents could see because well they'd be really mad. So knowing this I also knew that I couldn't go get it professionally done because I'd need my parents signature and I could have gotten a friend who did his own and his friends piercings to do it but I thought I'd be more comfortable doing my own.

I looked at some of the pictures on BME and I saw the tongue web...it looked pretty cute and I figured that not many people would have this so after looking at my tongue web it appeared to be big enough to pierce and I figured it wouldn't hurt at all because of how thin the skin is. I also knew that I wanted something around that area because well..it just seemed easier.

So after reading a bunch of experiences on here and talking to people that have had their tongue web pierced I figured I could handle it. I went to Shoppers Drug Mart..I'm definitely addicted to that store..and anyways I got some travel size Listerine and then I went and bought a 18 gauge CBR. I made sure I got the smallest one I could so my parents wouldn't be able to see it and being as small as I am I knew I'd still be able to get the ball in!

When I got home I went and got a needle and cleaned it with Listerine and what not and when I was satisfied that it was clean enough I rinsed my mouth with Listerine then went back to my room and stood in front of my mirror and looked at my tongue web. I made sure I wasn't going to be piercing through any veins or anything and poked at it a little and was surprised that the needle went through a little ways already. Now this is where it got a little tricky. I didn't have anything on the other side to hold my web in place or prevent the needle from stabbing me elsewhere so then I had to push my web but be careful that it didn't shoot through at the same time. It didn't take me that long but it didn't hurt at all either. There was a little bit of blood but I wouldn't really have noticed except it went on my finger as I took the needle out to put the CBR in. Putting the ring in did sting a little but nothing big. I then got the ball on and rinsed with some more Listerine.< p> I noticed when I ate it felt like I was going to rip the ring out so that scared me a little and I would sometimes just take the ring out while I ate..not really a good idea but I did it anyways. It didn't hurt much after either and it was fun to play with. I actually pierced it again after a few months because I had taken it out one night when I was eating and forgot to put it back in before I went to sleep and in the morning it had grown over. It hurt more that time because I had to pierce through some scar tissue and I noticed I couldn't stick my tongue out all the way without it hurting.

If anyone else wants to get this I would recommend getting it professionally done in the first place and making sure you do what they tell you for after care. I rinsed my mouth twice a day with Listerine and I was lucky I didn't get any infections from taking it out all the time. When I tell people about it they always think wow you're crazy for piercing yourself and that it must have hurt a lot. I guess it depends on your tongue web to begin with and your tolerance for pain but I think this would be the least painful piercing.

I had to take it out eventually because it seemed to be migrating a little and people could see the ball of the CBR when I talked so I didn't want my parents to see it. It was actually sore for a few days after I took it out and I have a little white scar now. I might get it re-pierced sometime in the future but it would have to be done professionally!
