Where to start?  My name is Matt, I'm 19 and live in the Central Coast of California.  My first tattoo was just after my 18th birthday, I am addicted now; I have two total, and three lined up.  My first piercing was a tongue, I bought it for myself as a "Christmas" present.

Just recently, I moved in with my now current roommate. She was someone that I met at work, and I invited to a few of the parties that my friend and I threw. She got her ear pierced 10 times in a row, down the side. Once that heals, they are going to put a spool around it. Anyways, I wanted to meet the piercer, because she did a great job. Her name is Genie, and she's really cool, her apprentice should be punching my ear to a 6 in a week or so. She came across a few new piercings that she wanted to try, and since my roommate was kind enough to let Genie put the ten in her ear, Genie offered her and I first dibbs on choosing what we wanted to get done.

Jen, my roommate opted for the Industrial thru the conch and the top of her other ear. That left me with the choice of the Venus, a hoop thru one of the folds of the ear, or a horizontal hoop thru the lobe. I chose the Venus, because I thought it would be cool to get maybe a slave ring for my regular tongue piercing, and loop it thru the new one. The Venus is a piercing on the tip of the tongue that goes horizontally, it's basically a surface to surface piercing on the tongue.

The shop is always immaculate, and everyone is always friendly, unlike some other no-name shop in Pismo Beach (*Cough studio805 Cough*).  Genie was great, always had a smile on her face, and before I even washed my mouth out the first time, she explained the full procedure to me. She was going to use square clamps because they would hold the surface skin better, and a laser cut needle for (hopefully) the quickest and least amount of pain. She put the marker dots on my tongue after a thorough rinse of Listerine. Genie gave me a mirror to check out the placement. I asked her to move my right side over a little bit more because it looked a little off center, and she complied with no fuss. This is where it got fun. My roommate and her friend is watching the whole time.  Genie clamped my tongue (the edges of the clamps felt like a pain... till later) and explained everything to me like it was my first time again. The needle went thru, and I felt every second of it, unlike my original tongue piercing. So that was a pain (no pun intended). She took a regular half-inch bar, and bent it slightly. Then the bar was fed thru, the needle removed, and the ball screwed on at the other end. During that whole time, I felt much pain. It was all I could do to not uncontrollably cry; I nearly drooled all over the place, but Genie helped me out and gave me a spit cup.  They took a few pictures, and my tongue was all bloody. I then rinsed again and nearly cried again with the movement of the bar.

I couldn't eat solid food for about three days. I worked my way up from chicken McNuggets to other foods, but while it was healing, I couldn't eat any bread products. It would stick to my bar, and I would move the food over to process it, and wind up hurting my tongue or biting on the ball. Thank you for steel!

About three weeks after I got it done (a week ago now) I went back to get a shorter bar. This whole time, I never knew the name of the piercing and that's when Genie told me it was called a Venus. How fitting, women are from Venus, and this is a great woman pleaser. Genie also tells me that I am the first person on the Central Coast of California to have one.  Not for long, I fear.  There are already three people who want to get the Venus done, Genie being one of them.  She is going to make her apprentice pierce the Venus on her as his final test.

Now that I'm all healed, I barley have a lisp and can eat anything that I want.  Now when ever I show it to people, they all think that it is three piercings total.  Then I have to show them that it is only two, and then they flip out more.  I think the next step is to invest in some glow in the dark balls for all three of the top balls.  Or maybe three different colored French ticklers to put on each exposed end?  Who knows, either way, I am very proud to be the owner of a Venus.
