Well in the last few weeks I have really wanted to get a frenulum ring. So I began to look around at my options. I called my usual shop but they were booked up for over a week. Then I called my next favourite option and their piercer was gone for more than a week. Next I called up a place I had heard was good. They told me to come down and get a consultation as the owner of the shop was the only person who would do it.

So later that day I went down to Aardvark in Hamilton, Ontario. After a few minutes of looking the owner told me that I had enough room to have it done, but that for some reason he was uncomfortable with doing it. I don't really know what that reason was; I just accepted it because I didn't feel overly comfortable there anyways.

Next I headed down the street to my usual shop to have Yolanda give my web a look-over. She too said it would be tricky but that she would do it. So we made the appointment for the following Saturday at 2pm.

The following Thursday afternoon I got home and was told that Yolanda called and that I should call her back. So I called her up and talked to Andrew instead. He told me that Yolanda had lost someone and had to go to a funeral on Saturday. So we rescheduled my appointment for the next day (Friday) at 5:30pm. I was so excited since it would be a day earlier!!

Friday afternoon my ride picked me up and we headed into Hamilton. We arrived at the shop around 5pm, and were told that they were running 15 minutes late. So I headed over to Tim Horton's across the street and ate a donut. Around 5:35 I headed back to the shop to wait again. About ten minutes before six she called me to the back. So I headed back there. For the first few minutes we just talked and caught up. She told me about her new piercing and I told her about future piercings I wanted. After awhile we finally started. She began to remove the wrappers from the tools as I used some mouthwash to clean up my mouth. She then explained the whole process and warned me to be careful so I didn't move my tongue with a needle in it and hurt myself. She told me this was a tricky piercing and not really one she enjoyed doing.

So she put the clamps on, which hurt quite a bit surprisingly. Next she set the needle up into the needle driver. After the clamp she got me to do the usual breathing routine that all artists will have you do during a piercing. Of course she pushed through on the breathing out part. It hurt a lot, which was VERY unexpected. Many experiences I read hear told me that there was no pain involved. But let me tell you this... it HURT LIKE HELL! I could feel every millimeter of that needle going through my web. Afterwards it began to get tricky. She had to remove the needle driver so that she could remove the clamps. So she took the needle driver out and left the needle in. Next she carefully removed the clamps and then put the needle driver back onto the needle. Then she grabbed the ring and pliers for it and began to slide the ring in. Unfortunately for me this was not an easy process. It involved a lot of pulling and hurting and it was terrible. The ring did not want to go through the web. It got stuck on the last little bit of skin and the ring just would not break the skin membrane. This pushing and pulling was quite painful and hurt like you wouldn't believe. Eventually the ring finally popped though and we were ALMOST done. We still had to get the ball into the ring, which also was not overly easy. Obviously there was a lot of saliva filling up in my mouth and made it hard to get that ball in. After a few minutes, well actually probably seconds that felt like minutes, the ball popped into place and we were done.

She gave me a cup of water to clean up and handed me a mirror to look at it. She pierced it perfect and it looked great. I like it a lot, but it is a little crooked because of my webbing. I do know that she did a great job on my piercing and that she did pierce it straight. Unfortunately my web is strange and causes the ring to go slanted when I lift my tongue up. She offered to give me another piercing for free to redo it, but could tell I could not handle the trauma again. When I said it was fine she told me to give it a few weeks and if it still does not look straight enough than she will again pierce it for free. So I agreed to that. She explained the aftercare and we then talked again for a few minutes. I gave her a tip and said good-bye. That was the end of the trip.

It's now been about 3 hours and it still feels weird. It is definitely going to take some getting used to, but I really like it. I don't plan to show anyone besides my girlfriend as I have no reason to. I did this piercing, like all my others, for myself and only for me. I do not care at all if anyone else likes it or even knows about it. My opinion is all that matters. To anyone that is considering this piercing I would highly recommend going for it. It does hurt to get done, but I have felt no pain and no swelling since I had it done. Pain is temporary, so never make that a factor in getting it done! Good luck to anyone that goes for this piercing. Feel free to email me if you want to ask questions or talk to me.
