I had been planning on waiting till March, when my parents went out of town, to get my tongue pierced. Even though I am eighteen, I know I would get yelled at if they found out, just like when I got my eye brow pierced. My dad took me to get my belly button done, and they agreed on my lip, but that was just about all they could handle.

A online friend of mine (of four years) came to oregon to meet me for the first time. We were talking about how cool of a bonding experience it would be if him and I went and got piercings together. I told him I liked the idea, but I couldn't spend the money, so he offered to pay! After a few days of getting over the guilt trip of someone spending $50 bucks on me, I accepted.

Friday we drove down to NOMAD to get pierced by Blake, who has done all my non ear piercings but my lip - I know he is good. Blake gave my friend a deal since he was paying for three piercings (two for him, one for me) and we went back to the piercing room. NOMAD studio is awesome, because it is like a Tribal Museum, and also has pictures of Models he has pierced, and bands he has pierced. It is a really clean studio, or I wouldn't have gone back.

Blake sat me down on the flat doctors bed (which has white paper over it, like at the doctors). He then had me stick out my tongue (after putting on gloves) and he checked for viens on the bottom. He said I have a very short tongue, but he could piercing, and that the swelling wouldn't be too bad, since it is so short. He clamped my tongue, gave me a tissue incase I drooled (which I didn't) and stuck the needle in. It hurt less then biting my tongue, but hurt really bad afterwards. The bottom bar on the barbell was digging into the bottom of my mouth, so I instantly took some painkillers. I got a internally threaded barbell w/ a purple titanium ball on top. For after care I had Tom's Natural mouth was, a new toothbrush, advil and sea salt. Also, no open mouth kissing for two to four weeks.

Day One:

It is pretty swollen. I would recommend not eating cream of wheat as the first meal after a fresh tongue piercing. It is all gritty and gets stuck in your mouth. eating hurts - frostys from wendy's and caramel frappachino's are great!

Day Two:

More swollen when I woke up, very sore. I took more advil and will still be eating pudding, soup and cold drinks. Noticed a white discharge around my tongue. I am sort of getting used to my swollen tongue, which is strange.

Day Three:

Seems less swollen, but is sore as hell upone waking. I am getting less afraid to use m ytongue, and it isn't as painful to use either. I am still taking advil, and that little white thing is still stuck to it.

Day Four:

It is hardly swollen today, but still sore upon waking. I am reducing my advil intake. I started gargling with warm sea salt water and the little white thing is gone. I saw Blake for new lip jewelery today and he said I could change my barbell to a shorter one in a few more days. The tastebuds on the tip of my tongue are still sensitive, I don't know if that is supposed to happen or not.

Day Eight:

Last night I got the barbell downsized, and this fits a lot better in my mouth right now. I am still doing sea salt rinses at home, and using the mouth wash when I am out. Blake had such a hard time putting the new barbell in last night. My tongue is so short that he could hardly reach into my mouth to tighten the balls! It was a little sore when I woke up, but Blake said it gets better everyday after a week has gone by! He also noticed I had ripped the piercing. I think that had to do w/ how the longer bar was so big in my mouth, that is laid to the side, and tore one part!

I will tell you one thing about piercing your tongue. The actual piercing doesn't hurt, but it really hurts afterwards! You have to really want this piercing to stick with it, but I bet I will really enjoy it once it is all healed! I can't wait to kiss! Oh - by the way, my parents still haven't noticed *yay*. Or, if they have, they just haven't said anything. I think it will be easier to hide now that the bar is shorter, and I can talk without lisping.
