My fabulous tongue

Well to start off this story I would recommend NO ONE copy what I did in my experience because what I done was contrary to what all piercists will tell you. My experience was three years ago and now that I have found this site I look back and can not fathome why I did some of the things that I did.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, it begins.. I have thought about having my tongue pierced for over two years now and thought this was amazing looking. Well one day while talking to my girlfriend on the phone while she was at work the topic of tongue piercings came up and we joked around about it. For what seemed like weeks we talked about it and what the advantages of having a pierced tongue were. All the more getting me into the thought of getting mine done.

Finally one day while my girlfriend was at work she had called and said she was having a bad day. So I told her to come over after work and we could sit and relax and have a drink.. she agreed. Not that that was inportant but that put the seed in my head.. wouldn't it shock the heck out of her if when she showed up if I surprised her with a tongue piercing. While I contemplated the piercing.. I had a few to drink (triples) and I had three. BAD IDEA. This gave me all the confidence I needed .. on account that I absoultely pass out at the site of needles. So off I went and into the car. I am the type, or at least was at that time if I didn't go for it then it would be a never be thing.

So off I go to a studio I had been told I should check out. I get there and tell the girl behind the counter what I wanted to get done. She asked if I had ever been pierced before and I told her no. So she then asked me if I had been drinking which I again answered no to.. dumb idea again. So we get into the paper work and the aftercare instructions. She had got hers done about 6 weeks prior so she was telling me what she had gone through. Ok now out come the piercist an absolutely beautiful girl named Yolanda. She asked what I was getting done and off we went into the back room.

She asked me if this was my first piercing and I replied yes.. so she told me all the different aftercare things and procedures that I was to follow which just went in one ear and out the other to me, as I had been drinking. As she is explaining everything to me she is getting all her tools and stuff ready to put a hole in my tongue. Out came a caliper to measure my tongue.. I forget how big she measured probably about a 1/2" or so. So she decided that the 3/4" barbell would be the best in case I had any swelling since again this was my first piercing. She got the marker out and marked a spot on my tongue I looked.. it seemed fine to me, but then again what did I know I was comletely new to this.

So here comes the fun part she put a bib on me incase I drewled and got the clamp ready and secure on my tongue.Oh boy did I drewl. Partly because of her and the other part because my tongue was pulled out of my head and I couldn't control my saliva. Well her is where she told me about the whoel breathing thing and I was like just don't tell me what is going to happen just do it. Well against what she had told me I held my breathe.. Not the greatest of ideas but oh well. So in went the needle and then the barbell no pain at all, a lot of drewl but thats all. No blood or pain so I was doing good, then came the part I was dreading.. I started to turn white. Probably from what had just happened. So she told me to lie back and relax for a minute, got me a glass of cold water and after a few minutes I was feeling great again.

Out to the counter I go and pay for my piercing, that was great and I was given a paper for aftercare and was told to follow it strictly and this was a very easily infected piercing because of where it was. So I left and was planning on following what I had just been told by the girls that worked there. Until I got home.. This is where no one should do what I did as it is avery bad idea. I got home and had a couple more drinks and then my girlfriend shows up.. I am still on a high from the piercing and the adreniline so I show her my new tongue piercing.

Then I had to go and "try" it out. against all advise that I was given now even 2 hours after I got it done. Well my girl loved it and so did I. The next day I had pizza for lunch and T-bone steak for dinner as I was over at a family members house and didn't want anyone to know about my piercing as in my family it was considered a bad thing. I suffered that day, so I chewed on a lot of ice. The next day I was fine, no problems at all. The third day I woke up with a mouth full of blood, and my tongue was swollen. I thought maybe that this was for what I had done the previous days. Well it was sore that day, but bearable as I have a great pain tolerance. The next day things were fine again and no problems after that.

The only thing I found was that the steel barbell was too rough on my teeth so I managed to buy plastics for it and haven't had any problems ever since and I love every thing about it and would say for anyone that is considering one go for it. Any questions feel free to ask away.
