I have been a fan of Body Modification for a very long time. You would probably be able to tell by looking at me. I have multiple ear piercings and a few facial ones. I usually get a piercing when I'm bored and looking for something new which is quite often. My piercings are always thoroughly thought out and planned so nothing is really spur of the moment. They are all paid for by yours truly by the way. I don't get any free rides from my parents which I'm afraid many people do. Any way, back to the story.

My parents, who might I add, are very understanding and accepting to these kind of things, decided that I have enough for now and should wait until I'm a little older. My thoughts were the opposite.
So, since I can't legally go and get a piercing without parental consent yet, I decided that this would be another home piercing. I've done a couple on myself before and they always work out quite well.
Since I would have to get something that would be more private than my "Out There" septum or vertical labret, I began looking on BMe for something that would be a little more discreet then a chunk of metal hanging from my nose. I found that nipples would be to risky and a belly button is too trendy and difficult to get right, I settled on a tongue web, something that I had been considering for a while but never really went through with.
Looking through numerous BodyMod web sites, asking Patrick questions on the QOD, and getting all the needed supplies from my friendly neighborhood Studio, I was ready.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get hold of any topical pain killer that was suitable for my situation so I had to leave the numbing of my tongue web to good old ice cubes made with filtered water.
After sucking on two or three ice cubes and a good sea salt rinse, I was ready to start. I went into the bathroom and set up. I put a cloth on the counter in front of where I would be standing to catch the drool that I was sure was going to be flowing, took out all my supplies (Packaged needle, clamps, gauze, gloves, anti-bacterial stuff, and a 10 gauge Circular Bar Bell) and got to work.
After checking for veins and major nerves, I marked the spot, stuck the clamp on (a little too hard OUCH!!) and got the needle ready. With some Jane's Addiction playing in the background to calm me down, I stuck the needle through. It didn't hurt a bit (possibly because I'm a glutton for pain) but it was quite awkward to have the needle in because I couldn't quite open my mouth enough to let the needle rest on my teeth, so it was just kind of sticking out. I tried to follow the needle through which took a bit of patience because I was trying to hold onto the needle, the CBB, was drooling all over the place, and trying to keep the clamps out of my way at the same time.
After getting the CBB through, getting the little ball on was a bit of a feat as well. No matter how many times I tried to wipe out my mouth to dry the CBB off, it would get all wet and was difficult to hold onto.
Once I got it on and everything cleaned up, I stood back to take a look at my work. I was very pleased to find out that it was perfectly straight and hardly bled at all. There wasn't any swelling either which I was also happy about.
All the time that I was doing this, neither of my parents are home. So I was sitting in my room thinking, "Ok, I have at least an hour to get used to talking with this piece of metal in my mouth before I have to talk to the people I want to hide it from the most." But, of course, not two minutes later, my dad phones. It was a strange experience. I had to think about everything that I was saying and talk slower than I usually do. He didn't notice to it worked out all right.
My parents came home and didn't notice a thing. I'm sure they wouldn't be too happy about this but what they don't know can't hurt ME. I'm not going to tell many people at school for the fear that it might get back to my parents. If that happened, the shit would hit the fan. Basically, it's there for me to know about and beam over.
Over all I'm very pleased with the job that I did. I wouldn't advise people to do piercings at home but get them done in a studio with competent artists. Things like this are better left to professionals. In my case, everything worked out fine but there is the chance that something could go wrong.
