Ever since I was little I had always wanted my ears pierced,so when I was 8 I got them done, I thought that hurt, in fact, that hurt more than my tongue......
At A Glance Author Emma Contact emmab_100@hotmail.com Artist Some guy in a shop Studio Absolution body piercing Location Hereford Street, Christchuch, New Zealand I had decided to get something pierced, Mum was cool with that as long as it was nothing too explicit or that would wreck my apperance, so, I chose my tongue because I thought it looked cool, not everyone had it and also teachers can't see it( because they have this thing with cofiscating little bars of metal) Anyway, it was one sunny afternoon we were in the centre of Christchurch, shopping we stopped at Mc Donalds for some lunch, just me, my mum and my best friend Hayley.We drove past a piercing place called Absolution, a place that had been recommended by my other good friend, Kirsty, so mum said why don't we get it done today, while were here.I thought that was kinda cool, my mum suggesting it, but shes kinda cool, she has a tatoo and lets me go out heaps and I have no chores.I was never nervous about it before,all the shit people were giving me it was kinda cool, scaring everyone and grossing them out, especially my gran.
I was shit scared, we were parking the car and I couldn't shut up, I was talking a mile a minute. We were walking down the street, I was so nervous and excited, I was skipping, and i'm not usually one to skip.... We went through the glass doors and waited by the counter.We started looking through the clothes, at all the crazy stuff,then the guy who served us asked if we were right, he was really nice and looked really neat, he had bright red hair and piercings everywhere you could imagine on his face. Anyway he was really nice. Then he got me to fill out a boring form about allergies and heart conditions and stupid procedures like that,that I had to sign then mum had to sign it too.While we were waiting I heard this kind of gasp coming from behind the curtain, where another person was getting there nose pierced or something.I was so scared, that kinda put off. I had the most terrible case of butterflies you could ever imagine, I was shaking. Then the lady came out, paid and left. It was now my turn. The man asked if I was ready to go in, I don't know if I was really ready but was as ready as I ever would of been, so I followed. Hayley came too but mum waited out in the shop (wuss!!!!)
The other guy told me to lie on the bed. Hayley sat down in the chair in anticipation. I lay on the bed and saw him pull out a big (clean) needle, (the place was really clean and sterilised so I recommened it to anyone in Christchurch!!)back 2 the story....he pulled out the clamp and clamped my tongue into place,I was thinking about all those programmes that i had watched on piercing going wrong and what adults had been telling me. My heart was beating so fast I could hear it!!i could see in the corner of my eye, Hayley looking very nervous and squirmish!! He told me to shut my eyes and he counted ...1...2... and he shoved the needle through and told me the worst was over, I was like , hang on, where's the pain!! He put the barbell through and screwed the ball on. It felt so good to finally have it done.I got up and looked in the mirror.I was so proud. Mum came through and looked at it and told me it looked discusting, but i didn't care.
There was no swelling, no infections,it hurt 4 a few days and for around an hour or two, when i first got it done i couldn't talk very well but apart from those normal things everything went well so I suppose I got it lucky. It was well worth it and anyone who is considering it and is reading this, go 4 it all it feels like is a injection(but in your tongue)
I love it, it looks really cool, you don't have to look after it (except 4 the first few weeks)AND.... my boyfriend loves it too, now i want my navel done so hopefully that will happen soon,caz i saw Hayley get it done, it looked sore but it looks really sexy and my boy reckons its a turn on,so thats all good, and then i can tell you's all about that.
