Tongue Web-

Oh wow oh wow! So, I asked my roomate to go with me for a walk. I felt like just walking down Telegraph and maybe stopping for a bite to eat or something. We popped into Zebra, as we usually do when strolling down Berkeley's main street. My roomate decided to get her nose pierced, after seeing the jewelry for it, and missing the way she used to look , when she had it done before. So, after like 1 1/2 hours of hangin there, she went through with it.

While waiting for her turn to be pierced, I talked to the girl behind the counter, who had shown me her piercings and tattoos. She liked her piercings odd, and discrete. When she showed me her tongue web, I was amazed. It was soooooo incredibly fascinating.

Now if you aren't aware of what the Tongue Web is, follow me: Touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth, then open your mouth as wide as possible. Ok, now pinch your nipples and moan. Wait wait wait, nevermind. Ok, so back to the tongue web hunt....feel the thin piece of skin that comes out under the tongue? Yeah- thats it.... thats the web. Cool, huh?

So, im a tad bit impatient when it comes to, oh i don't know, EVERYTHING, so I had to get this done soon. I went home, and just literally sat there shaking my leg out of anticipation. This was on Tuesday night. I thought about it all day on wednesday and thursday, and decided to do it on Friday- the next available day for me. I was going to pick up my roomate from BART and then head over before the studio got busy. It just so happens though, that I got done with work early, and I decided to stroll over around 1 pm. I told myself, "If you want it that bad....just do it"...and so i did:)

When I got into the studio, they remembered me from the other day, and the other piercings that I have gotten there. (i have my left eye brow once, had my right one done twice- now only one, and my la bret)

- So* I walked right over to the counter and said "so, im gonna do it"...they knew exactly what I wanted pierced and so it was kind of nice:)

I think its nice to want to be pierced and to plan on it, and then to actually hang with the piercist a while. You just feel more comfortable, ya know?

OK- so now for the actual piercing! Carrie was to pierce me. I totally trust her and I think she does a fantastic job, with communicating and with piercing. So, i wasnt so nervous. I ask the question I always ask which is "Is it going to hurt a lot"...and ..." What can you compare it to "..... Now, I can ask others this question, but it just means more coming from the person who will soon be poking a hole in your body...ya know? She told me it would be fine and that it doesnt hurt any more than a la bret really.

So, I sat down, and she told me to Touch my tongue to the roof of my mouth. I opened my mouth WIDE which isnt hard, because i have a hugeeee mouth, and she told me that i had a perfect web for piercing. It is definitely better to have a larger web, because they can pierce further back and there is a less chance for it to rip/tear or...somthing like that i think. SO she told me not to move my tongue around alot, especially after she puts the needle in. It can slip out easily, and its a little messy. So what should happen? It slipped out. but it slipped out after half the curved barbell was in and she was screwing in the other side. Accidents happen I guess right? So she tried to put it back in , but to no avail, we had to give up and pierce again. Only this time, she used the clamps. That doesnt particularly feel TOO great, but oh well...its not unbearable. So she put the clamps on my tongue and then repierced it. Yummy. (i think someone else posted a photo in the gallery for tongue webs. it shows what the clamps look like- thats not me by the way- just an example).....

she finally got it in and got the ball screwed on. I think i said "Ouch" once or twice, but that was only because the clamp poked me and bonked my tooth. BUt all in all....it rocks.

She handed me a mirror and told me to take a look. *awww how cute*

I really like this one. My others are very very very visible. Everyone usually thinks I have hidden piercings, which now I do. My sister asked me why i would want to pierce this if no one can see it, and I simply told her it was for me. The other piercings were for me too, but i think this emphasizes that fact.

So here it is, Sunday afternoon, two days after, and it looks like the swelling is going down a bit. I think it may be swollen because of A.) shock of something new in the body, and that new thing being- oh- i dont know- POKED in there, and B.) I went straight from the studio, to TWO different interviews. One was 1 hour and 10 minutes. Too musch talking? maybe.

On friday I said.. oh no it looks good i feel fine, and then it started to swell, and chinese was hard that night, and ICE and Jamba Juice was NICE the next day, and today too. Its been softer foods, or foods that glide down well, and ice ice ice. After everymeal- rinse with saltwater (sea salt) and them use Glyoxide three times a day. Its basically sweet peroxide for the tongue. Tastes like Kayrosyrup. Apparently mouthwash is WAY too harsh for the mouth after a piercing:)

So today - It's sore but- worth it. *I like saying "wow- these balls feel weird under my tongue" *

evil grins

I plan on getting my Isabella pierced net, which is the one im working up to. I wanted my la bret pierced for a few years before I got it, and i think this is the next piercing to treat that way. I want it BAD. (isabella- is the piercing right above the entire female genitalia.)

So, yup- thats my tongue web experience. I am sticking to piercings for the time being. I have had my share of scarification, and am planning my first tattoo the week after halloween. Wish me luck.

If you have anyquestions...email me:)
