Here is the saga of my tongue web piercing/scalpelling.

This was my first "real" piercing. My parents WERE opposed to body modification back then, so I had to take matters into my own hands.

One day, I was at a friends house, and she was telling me about her sister coming into town in a week or so, and that she was an apprentice to a piercer. Well, my friends sister called one day while I was over there and they got on the subject of piercing. I mentioned that I would like a piercing sometime in the future. I got on the phone with her, and we threw a few idea's around, and I told her I would like to get my tongue web pierced. She said she had a new "tool" to do piercings such as that, and she would bring it along with her.

(here is the story) I get a phone call, saying that Michelle (the lady that did it) was ready for me. So I walk on over across the street to meet them. I asked her about he new "tool" and she pulled it out of a little black case. It looked almost like a leather punch, but you could insert a needle in one end. She explained to me how it worked and everything, and I said "it sounds like a good plan to me,lets get this show on the road." She undid a few parts of the contraption, nd put them in a box with Wavicide. As we waited, we discussed the specifics of the piercing. I decided to go with a 16ga ½" CBR.

Here comes the fun part. She goes and gets the "tool" and announces she is ready. I lay back on the couch and puts the "tool" in my mouth and says breath deep, and SNAP. She takes the "tool" out and puts the CBR in, and sends my on my way. If you don't like people asking you a lot of questions, and getting a lot of the imfamous "does that hurt?" I wouldn't suggest getting this piercing.

Because I was pierced at such an extremely small size, I had the cheese cutter effect goin' on, and it stretched pretty easy. I soon found myself at 10ga. I went out and got a 6ga SSS ½" plug with o-rings after a few weeks at 10ga. I couldn't pop it in, and I didn't want to taper up 2 sizes, so I decided I would go for scalpelling. I had this planned out a long time before I actually went through and did it.

I covered everything up in my bathroom with saran wrap. I rinsed my mouth out with Listerine, and washed my hands and got everything underway. I opened up the blade, opened up the scalpell. I took dental floss and ran it through the piercing itself, pulled on it, and stretched it a bit. I stuck the #15 scalpell in the existing hole, and made few slices towards the back of my mouth. The pain factor was not TOO high on this, but I did hurt a bit. There was a good amount of blood which makes is somewhat difficult to work, but I got around it.

I already had one o-ring on the plug, so I popped it in, and put the other o-ring on, cleaned up (actually I split my tongue a bit then cleaned up).

Healing has been going pretty good on it. I have a lot of scar tissue backing the piercing, so I doubt that its going to reject. I had the o-rings on too tight for a day, and it started hurting like crazy. I just loosened the o-rings and I was fine.

I plan on going as large as possible In the future. I am going to get some custom made 4ga jewelry for it. Its going to rock the casba. Hopefully in the future you will be seeing a 00ga tongue web piercing.

If I had one thing to do over, I would have gotten it pierced at a larger gauge. There is a LOT of movement in that area, and when you talk, you get the cheese cutter effect, and it puts a lot of stress on the piercing. That is why most tongue web piercing migrate or reject.

If you don't like people asking you a lot of questions, and getting a lot of the imfamous "does that hurt?" I wouldn't suggest getting this piercing. And another note. This piercing has done a good amount of damage to my teeth. I would definitely consider that if you are thinking about getting this piercing.

If any one has and questions regarding this procudure, feel free to contact me.
