For a while, I had wanted to get my tongue web pierced. I attempted to get it done many times...but got rejected from one place because I didn't have proper government issued I.D...no drivers license or health card with a picture on it. I also got rejected from another location because my web was apparently too small to pierce.

I had the intention of piercing my web, and my friend, her nipple. We ended up outside of Abstract Tattoo. So we went inside, to find some chick getting a tattoo in the front of the small area, and a small room in the back where the piercings took place. As we were searching through the albums, the guy who was soon to be my piercer, Gre-gory, came out to greet us. He introduced himself, and asked us what we wanted to have pierced. As I was showing him my web, he told us that he has turned down maybe only 5 people ever who have wanted piercings...because he's THAT good. Alright, so he said he could pierce me, and told me the price which was I believe $65. Anxiously, I ran to the nearest bank to take out the money. On the way back, we saw David Usher crossing the road with a bicycle, and he smiled at us. That was a good sign.
We arrived back at Abstract and Gre-gory took me and my friends into the back room. It was very clean looking, and he proceeded to tell us this story about how he used to swallow swords and breathe fire. I wanted to be done first, so I hopped up on the chair and opened my mouth. First he took paper towels and dried out my mouth of saliva. Then when he was poking around to find a good spot to pierce, he became all excited because he found the perfect spot very quickly, and clamped it. He kept saying "oh it's perfect" and continued to tell me that he was going to pierce it right away.
I also have my tragis and rook pierced, and I'd have to say that my web was the least painful of the three. It's such a thin area that it was so quick and easy.
He closed up the ring, and after my friend finished her nipple, we were on our way back home. It felt pretty weird in my mouth at first, and I was told that I was talking pretty funny, but I soon became used to it. Everything was great, I was going to hide it from my parents...but when I got home, my dad made me open my mouth because I friend of mine had left a message asking me how piercing my web went. Great. The only other problem, was that I got in done two days before thanksgiving, so eating hurt. But yeah, it's healed great now and I love it.
Now it's time for a brief question and answer period....of things that people have asked me or you might be asking right this very moment:
Q: why would anyone get that done when no one can even see it?
A: for my own personal satisfaction.
Q: is it at all visible??
A: i've been told by people that you can sometimes see it when i talk or laugh or yawn.
Q: did it hurt to get pierced?
A: no, not at all. it was the least painful piercing i've experienced yet.
Q: did it hurt afterwards?
A: yes. a lot. it got really swollen a few times.
Q: does it still bother you?
A: no, because i figured out what was wrong. the problem, was that i had plaque building up on it...so whenever the ring moved inside of me, the plaque would cause a lot of pain. so now i clean it every night with a q-tip and everything feels great.
Q: does it bother you at all in your daily routine?
A: it doesn't affect my speech, it doesn't hit my teeth...the only thing i can't do is touch my nose with my tongue anymore.
OH, the first time i went to the dentist after getting it done, i was quite amused. my hygenist called in like 10 other hygenists and they were all standing around me staring at my web. and each one of them had the same reaction...which was: "Oh my! ....but hey, it won't hurt her teeth! wow!". my dentist said something about the fact that i could have bled to death...but that didn't affect me. i even got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed without taking out my web ring. i was a happy camper.
