This was my second piercing experience. Before this I had only had my ear pierced but now my tongue. I went in with my girlfriend to get it done and it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. She was getting her navel pierced "again" and it worked out for her too.. the piercer was really great. A few of my friends had it done and i always kind of wondered about it .. and wanted to get it done. I just never worked myself upto doing it.

I work at a pretty business like place and i didnt know how much everyone there would except it. After they saw i got it done most of them accepted it, but my boss seemed kind of peeved at the fact. None the less im still working at the same place and everything worked out pretty good for me.

I think I'm going to get my nipples pierced next but that's about it for now. I always wanted to get my tongue done but never knew where to go and where was safe or not. For about a month or two i spent a little time looking up prices and how the procedures went. I also read stories about people and their experiences. It helped me to

actually work up the nerve and finally get it done. I waited to go when i had off awhile from work so i wouldnt have too many problems. My girlfriend had past experiences and i thought it worked out for my first" different" piercing. I guess today its pretty typical but for me it was a pretty big change.

I walked into Body Designs (great place if youre in the long island area.) After looking at prices i saw it was about 50$ which I figured wasn't bad at all. I picked out a regular barbell with a plain steel ball. The piercer asked me what i wanted done...checked my liscense and made me fill out some paperwork.

I went to the backroom and the guy explained everything to me and how everything she used was sterile. I was a little worried about how sterile everything really was but it wasn't that bad I asked a few questions about what i would and wouldnt be able to do for awhile after getting it pierced. She was really nice about everything and it made me feel a little more comfortable about the whole situation. I was told to wash out my mouth first and then a few minutes later she placed the clamp down and pierced the needle through it. It didnt really hurt at all just like a light pinch. The procedure was done more quickly than i expected it to be. Before i knew it she had slipped in the bar told me it to get up.. and it was over. After it was finally done she talked to me about how to clean i should everyday. I was a little out of it after getting it done, not because of pain but probably out of suprise. Im not the type of person that would get something like this done but after doing it i have no regrets what so ever. I walked out of the place with a cup of ice and my girlfriend in shock. I cleaned it about 2-3 times aday and

eventually the swelling started to go down and i loved it.

The worst swelling was probably the day after getting it done, but even that wasn't too bad for me. Within about a week it was healed and the swelling had gone down a great deal. Which was a shorter time than i expected it to be. A few people that had it done told me it might take awhile to even be able to eat with discomfort but mine wasnt really that bad. I just ended up eating soft foods like yogurts apple sauce stuff like that. It wasnt as bad I as thought, eating basically the same stuff everyday for almost a week. I recommend going out and getting a good meal before getting it done. I went to taco bell, not that bad of a choice considering what i ate for the next week. The only bad part about it was that i had a lisp for awhile but what can you do. I mostly had trouble pronouncing my *L*s.

After that whole thing was over with it was great and worth everything i had went through. My suggestion to anyone is if youre thinking about getting your tongue pierced just go and get it done. Its really great and if you want it that bad just get it and everything will work out in the end. I suggest going with someone thats had something done already it makes it a little easier on yourself and puts you in "some" comfort. It's about 6 months later now and i still have the same barbell in .. so all i have to say is if youre contimplating it just go.
