I had wanted my tongue pierced for ages but my mother had always screamed "NO!" whenever I popped the question. She was and still is dead set against piercings but I got it anyway!

I went to Skin Graffix on a Thrusday afternoon with butterflies in my stomach. And being only 17 I was scared that the piercer would turn me away. So I asked him to pierce my tongue and he said "Sit in the chair and I'll prep." He didn't ask for ID and it was a good thing cause I sure as hell didn't have one.

Nate was a skin-head looking man with tattoos all up his arms and chest. He had piercings all over his face which kinda scared me. He was a really nice person despite what his appearance may have suggested. He was also a very good piercer.

It was a huge black dentist-like chair which was really comfortable. He told me to rinse with the yellow listernice (which isn't that bad!). After I rinsed he had me stick out my tongue so he could mark where he was going to pierce. I held the drool napkin under my chin and he put the clamp on my tongue. I stuck out my tongue as far as I could and then I saw needle. He put something on it to make it go through easier and it was smooth sailing. I closed my eyes and gripped the chair as I felt the needle go through the layers of my tongue.

Whoa. No pain? Is that it? He winked at me and said "Wow, you're a good bleeder." Well, blood is a good thing aparently when getting pierced. What a relief to hear that.

Anyway I shelled out the $60 and was on my way. Keeping my tongue clean wasn't too bad of a task. I had to clean it after anytime I ate something. I also used some drops to make sure it was super clean. A word of advice- eat a lot before you go and take tylenol!!! It does swell and it will hurt afterwards.

My tongue was swelled to the balls for a couple days and then it went down. I could eat normally from the second day which was good because I didn't want my mom to think I was anorexic.

Anyway, if you are thinking of getting your tongue pierced, definitely go for it. There's no pain (during the piercing) and afterwards you feel like you're on top of the world. It's fun and exciting and and all around good experience no matter how old you are. GO!!

My mom found out about my tongue piercings about 2 months after I had it done. And I live with my mom so it wasn't easy. Just keep your mouth closed! Only oen it when you have to ad don't laugh with your mouth wide open. Just some words of advice.

After getting my tongue pierced I decided it was time for the belly button. About 5 months after getting my tongue pierced, I asked my mom and again she responded with a firm "NO!" So what did I do? I went to my friend who is a piercer and had him do it. I was a little more nervous about my belly button than my tongue because I heard that it hurt more.

I waited for Mike to finish prepping the instruments while the nervousmess set in yet again. I ws sitting in the chair and he says "Ready?" I was as ready as I was gonna be. He clamped my belly button (on the bottom) and examined his 'position.' I squeezed my friend Cory's hand as I felt the needle going through. Not nearly as bad as I thought.

I held still while he inserted the barbell carefully into the new hole in my tummy. So cute it was, and still is. I am so glad I got my belly button pierced. It is still healing now but is doing well.

I clean it every day with saline solution and triple antibiotic ointment- the suggested cleaners.

Well, my mom found out about my belly button piercings about a week after I had it done because she saw the pics off my web cam.She wasn't mad but she wished I had told her. Oh well- she got over it and now she's thinking about getting it done!

Belly button rings are adorable and everyone should have one. It doesn't hurt badly and once it's healed you can put all kinds of cute little rings in it. Go for it if you are even thinking about it. It's so worth it. Keep it clean and don't play with it or i will get infected! Infected piercings are no fun.
