I had been bugging my parents for a great long while to let me get my tongue pierced. I had read a lot of stories from BME and I thought I could convince my parents. My dad was saying ABSOLEUTLY NOT because he let me get my belly button pierced for my birthday, which was in March. My mom said it was ok but my step dad is a nurse so he talked her out of it so then she said no. My dad was going out of town for 2 weeks so I figured what a great time to get it done! My mom said she didn't care if she didn't know that I had. Damn the man that you have to be 18 to get pierced without a parent. So it was Saturday when my parents had friends over and they get a little loaded and signed a sheet!

Saturday

The place I was going to go closed at 6 and it is 8 now. The 2 other places were either packed or said that I had to have my parents come in with me.

Sunday

Not a damn place is open

Monday

Where have all the piercers gone?

July 4th

No place is open

Wednesday

WOO HOO!! I am going at 2...hoping that the piercer won't be there but he is so I hand him my sheet and he says give me a few minutes. My boyfriend was trying to calm me down the whole time. PSHA didn't happened. I was being summoned to go to the back room. So then he has me sit in this green leather chair and tells me to swish some Listerine (BLUE KIND) for as long as I can. That stuff tastes like crap! So then he just tells me to relax and of course I can't. J.R. (boyfriend) is rubbing my shoulders and trying to calm me down and Rich (piercer) says ok man hold the clamps. Those were fine for me cause I couldn't even feel my tongue. He made the mark and checked the placement a few times. Then came the needle and yeah it did hurt but like that it was finished. I got a blue titanium barbell, paid, thanked Rich and left. SLURPEE TIME!!

Wednesday Night

Tongue isn't swollen, just odd having a piece of metal in my mouth. Guys at work are giving me a hard time about it.

Thursday

Had a Slurpee for breakfast, it isn't really swollen. Having trouble saying S's and t-h's. Had a can of soup that I cooled for lunch. I ate the broth, carrots, and noodles and it only took me 1 and a 1/2 hours!! At work it swelled a little but that went away. I had some mostacholli that I cut into little itty-bitty pieces.

Thursday Night

Had a can of Campbell's Curly Noodle and some yogurt, which was a little thick, but I survived. Lots of cold water and slurpees.

Friday

Went to Milwaukee for Summerfest to see No Doubt and my tongue is a little swollen having trouble with s's and t-h's still. Had 2 shaved ices and like 3 bites of a baked potato.

Saturday

REALLY SWOLLEN from all my singing at the concert!!! Other than that ok. Had lots of soup. Saw No Doubt again in Chicago and got lots of compliments on my tongue.

Sunday

Swelling is almost completely gone. WOO HOO!! The dent on top is HUGE! No puss or anything yet. Washing mouth with salt water.

Monday

Still having trouble with some words but other than that it is fine. My mom is asking questions every five minutes about it and she is always like "Are you sure it is ok?" "Does it feel infected?"

Tuesday

Wow, I was expecting so much more pain but that was nothing!! A little plaque is forming on the under ball which I just cleaned with a Q-Tip.

Wednesday

I had spaghetti cut into pieces and that was no problem. Still rinsing with Listerine after everything and salt water before I go to sleep.

Thursday

WOO HOO! First solid food in a while. It was amazing. Even though it was only 1/4 of a cookie and some bread. I never realized how much I love Subway until now. Still no puss or anything.

Friday

Was supposed to get barbell changed but things didn't work out. Oh well. My mom really wants me to take it out because my dad is coming home from Alaska tonight. I said that I didn't go through all that and then take it out in a week.

For anyone who is thinking about it.....DO IT!! I recommend it.
