Hey just thought I would share my story for all those people out there that are thinking about getting a piercing in their tounge. OK, here goes. I had just gotten my pay check and had been thinking about getting a piercing for a while. I could not decide on what I wanted done. I was thinking about getting my nipples done but I didnt think htat I went with out a shirt enought to warrent getting those done. I didnt want to get something that was too noticable either like my eye brow because I am about to graduate from college and I want to be able to get a job. I was debating getting my tounge pierced but hesitated because I didnt want to make my parents mad. Although as luck would have it my parents were going out of town so I decided to get my tounge pierced. I am twenty years old, however my parents did not want me to get my tounge pierced because they did not think that it looked profesionl.

So I went ahead and got it while they were gone. I went down to the local piercing shop and looked at all the rings that they had. The women was real cool and looked at my tounge and said that it was pretty thick but it would be find to do it any way. So I went ahead and got it pierced. They clamp your tounge with these great big clamps that look like somthing out of a science lab and they just stick the needle up through the bottem of your tounge and it really dosnt hurt that much. I think that it hurt worse to have the clamps on thereThere was a ton of blood that leaked from my mouth. When the needle goes through your tounge it is a realy weird feeling. It makes you feel kind of dizzy and sick to your stomach. The other thing that I did not care for was the taste of blood in my mouth. I did not think that this was normal however it wasnt a real problem. I paid the lady and went home.

This is when my piercing problems started. The barbell that the lady used was too short. So my toung swelled up and ripped my tounge a little on the bottem. They said that it would be much longer healing now. I woke up two nights in a row in a pool of blood because of that rip. It was the sickest thing that had ever happened to me. I was about ready to take it out after all this had happened. I started to almost feel like I was not supposed to get one and I was being told by some usseen force to take it out or somthing

The other strange thing was that my tounge was swollen for about 7 to 8 days which I didnt think was normal either. I went with a friend to another place when he got his tounge pierced and the piercer there told me I should go straight to a doctor. However after exploring this site I found out that your tounge can be swollen for a week and that was normal. The other thing that guy told me at the other piercing place was that the place I went to reused jewlry and that I should get a hepatitis and Hiv test. Although after looking through this site I found this was also normal if she put it through the auto clave machine. So all in all I never went to the doctor and I think that everything will be all right. My tounge did go down and I am sure I did not get hepatitis or aids. I think personally that the guy at my friends shop did not like my piercer and that is why he said what he said. My tounge never looked infected, it just took a long time to go down.

I look back now and think should I have gotten it done. I think that I should have. If I had it to do over I would have done a little more research on here before going down there. The other thing that I would have to suggest is to just eat soup for the first couple of days. It gets really hard trying to shove french fries to the back of your mouth and only chew with your back teeth.
