Right,ok, so I already had two lobe piercings in each ear, right helix and right nostril. But that really isn't enough for me. Ever since the last one I got (helix) in March, I had been planning the next one.
At A Glance Author Chelski Contact Chelski@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Sarg Studio Metal Fatigue Location Bournemouth, UK I managed to narrow it down to tragus, anti tragus, or 2 more in each lobe... But after deciding that a lot of people I know had their tragus done, and lobes weren't *that* exciting, anti-tragus seemed like the way to go!
I would have had it done straight away, but the one problem I had was my 'anti piercing' parents. I had promised my mum that I wouldn't have anymore (Knowing full well that I would), so I didn't bother asking!
I thought about it a bit more and decided that the half term would be good, as it would be a nice after exams treat. Managed to persuade my friend to go have his nipple pierced, and my best friend came along to keep us company, and to go shopping after the piercings.
We got on the bus to Bournemouth, and half of me was having second thoughts as to how my mum would react and whether I should have it done or not.... as well as how much it would hurt!
Went to Paradox first, where they sell all the BCRs and barbells etc, so I could pick up a new bar for the top of my ear. Asked about the level of pain with the anti-tragus and the guy said it would hurt. Quite a lot. Also, that I might have trouble using earphones with my iPod afterwards, dependant on the placement. This put me off a bit!
But we walked over the road to Metal Fatigue (it was the third time I have been pierced there now... I don't think I would go anywhere else now!) and I had a think about it. I eventually decided that I would rather have a hot piercing and just have the ipod going in one ear! So we trampled up the stairs, signed the consent forms and handed over the ID.
Was told I was going to have a BCR put in to start with, and my friend would have a bar in his nipple. We debated who should go first and the other two said I should go first because I was more likely to chicken it!! So in I went, as usual, the room was clean and everything, I didn't bother to look for the guy doing everything, I was too nervous, but I vaguely remember hearing packets being opened and everything.
He marked on my ear where he would place it, and it looked fine to me, so the needle came out. Looked quite big, but it didn't put me off. I closed my eyes and clenched my fists as I prepared for the pain. He told me the needle was going in and I'm not going to lie, there was a sharp burning pain as it went through, but it was gone within seconds. It was slightly uncomfortable when the BCR was put in, but definitely not painful.
I looked in the mirror and it was love at first sight. It sat really nicely, and I liked the fact it was different. He then changed the BCR at the top of my ear for the bar that I had just got over the road, which looked much better.
I would say that the few seconds of slight, bearable pain were definitely worth it, I am in love with my ear now. It bled a spot, but nothing major, and apart from it crusting up slightly in the first day or two, there hasn't been much pain. It aches slightly and twinges slightly when its moved, but it doesn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would. Unfortunately, I spent too much time in the sun yesterday and got very very sunburnt, including the area that got pierced, which makes it a bit sore.
Have been doing the salt water soaks twice a day, as I did with my other piercings, so hopefully those nasty infections will stay away, because I don't want to have to take it out!
Not sure what to get done next, probably rook or an lobe orbital. Maybe a tragus, but not sure! Also, I can't decide which ear to get it on, the right has a few now, but the left is a blank canvas apart from the lobe!
Oh and let's just say I came out happier than my friend... Who had a VERY sore nipple and very shakey hands...
But yeah. Go and get your anti-tragus pierced before everyone gets them and they aren't as fun anymore :) Don't go shopping afterwards either, like I did, because you end up stopping to look at your ear in every available mirror!
