My wonderful industrial... FINALLY!

I don't remember the first time I ever saw an industrial piercing, but it must have been around last year. At that time, some of the popular girls in my grade were all getting helix piercings- simple, boring, helix piercings. Although I knew they were simple, and I was far from being a 'popular' girl, I thrived for one of my own. I was jealous of them, that they had a (somewhat) unique piercing. I wanted one too.

Thus started my search for the piercings. When I came across BME, I was delighted! I looked through all the photos of ear piercing, until I came across the industrial piercing. I loved the way it looked from the start; a boring, helix piercing ajoined by another to make it look unique and, well, amazing! I kept waiting for the perfect day to ask my mom for my first (real) piercing.

Months went by without me saying a word to my mother. I had the fear that she would say no, and that would be it. But then, one day in school, I saw a girl from an older grade walk by and there, in her ear, was an industrial piercing! "That's it," I thought. "If she can have one, so can I."

So that night I asked my mom, and was left with a simple 'maybe'.

For months and months I begged, until my mom FINALLY agreed to let me get it done. But it was still months after THAT until she actually decided to TAKE me.

Anyways, the day came, (today) and I was so excited! My long awaited industrial piercing, the piercing I have been wanting and begging for for over a year, was finally going to be mine! The whole ride there, I had a huge knot in my stomach. I wasn't looking forward to the pain at all, even though i'd read so many times that it didn't hurt that bad. When we went into the shop, the piercer gave all the details to my mom. As she was filling out the form, I looked through all the shiny piercings until I came to the barbells, smiling. That would be in my ear soon!

After about ten minutes of waiting, I was called into the piercing room. My mom refused to come with me; she faints at the sight of blood and needles, and she wasn't very happy with my new piercing idea in the first place. But it didn't matter to me; I didn't need my over protective mother around when someone was going to stick a needle through my ear-- twice.

The piercer calmly explained everything, but the butterflies in my stomach never went away. She marked the dots for me, and they were, of course, perfect. She then sat me in the chair and said; "I'm going to tell you to take a deep breathe, so you'll breathe in then out. While you're breathing out i'm going to pierce you." She gave me a moment to sink it all in before she said, "Are you ready?" And, without a doubt, I said yes... breathed in, breathed out, and... PAIN!

She pierced my upper helix first. I didn't feel it going through every layer of skin at once, like everyone else describes... It felt just like a piercing gun, except slower, and focusing more on the pain. It didn't hurt THAT bad, but it did hurt. I scrunched my hands together and said, "Ow." She laughed. Quickly, she slipped the jewelry in. I started bleeding immediately; I even stained my nice white shirt! But she wiped it away, and got ready to pierce me for the second time. I thought that maybe, this time wouldn't hurt as bad, so I relaxed my hands and breathed in, and out, and... MORE PAIN!

This one hurt even worse than the first one! I didn't bleed as much, though. Soon I started to feel a little lightheaded... my jaw hurt and I started to get a headache. I kept my fists cluched together, trying to keep the pain under control. 'It'll all be over soon,' I thought to myself. Even though I was in major pain, I couldn't stop smiling as she pushed the jewelry in and screwed the little ball in. She explained the rules on how to clean it, and then she let me take a look at it.

There it was: my beautiful, long-waited industrial. It looked so good, like a perfect match for my ear! I walked out of the piercing room with a smile- still lightheaded, but with a smile- and showed off my new piercing to my mom. My mom just stared at it, looking at me like I was crazy and sighed. She paid the cashier and we left.

My industrial is awesome! To everyone who wants to get one: go for it! It DOES hurt, but not for long. Any new piercing hurts, an this is no exception. Industrials look good on anyone, so don't hesitate o get yours done! It's fast, easy and sexy. Happy piercing!
