Until recently, I had always thought of stretching as gross. I didn't like being able to see through people's ears, and I thought it looked disgusting. I didn't see the appeal in bigger sized holes in your ears, or anywhere else. In the last few months, I've really liked the look. I went downtown Edmonton more, and met some people. I chilled at avenue Skate Park for shows, and I grew accustomed to, and in turn, really liked the look of stretched ears.

I thought a while about if I wanted to do that to myself. I looked it up, I read stories on BME. I googled it, and the consequences of stretching. I learned about blowouts, the cat-bum look from stretching too fast, and the risk of ears not going back to normal. Despite all the horror stories, and disgusting pictures, I still wanted to do it. My mom, however, did not share my change of heart. She refused me tapers, and told me I couldn't stretch my ears. Being the unintelligent young lady I was (and am), I decided to go ahead with it. I used household items. First, I used a bigger sewing needle. It must have been about a 14g. I left it in for a day, before I used a curtain hook. It was probably about a 12g. It didn't hurt to put in, and went in quite easily. I took it straight out of a box full of pins and hooks and stuff from around the house. I barely sanitized it. Somehow (I have no idea how I managed this) it did not get infected. I left it in for about a week. At the end of the week, my mom saw it. She freaked out, and exclaimed "GET THAT SHIT OUT OF YOUR EAR!" I listened to her, and took them out.

The next day, I got two nails, and a tube of Vaseline. I put some Vaseline in a bag with two nails that looked to be about 6-4g. That day, we walked down to the church to do a reenactment of the passion of Christ, for Easter. Instead of going in, I chose to sit outside the church. I took out my bag. Taking out a nail, I put Vaseline on my ear. I put Vaseline on the nail, and put the nail to my ear. My ear had shrunk in size back to a 16 or an 18 overnight. I pushed one finger to the back of my ear, and one hand pushing the nail. It hurt a lot. I pushed for about five minutes, and I felt the tip of the nail on my finger. It wasn't even a quarter in. my whole head hurt, and my ear was throbbing. It hurt a lot. I continued to push, and it wouldn't go through. I stopped, and repeated the process with my other ear. I still couldn't get it in. by this point; my ear was red, and very, very sore. I tried the first ear again in half an hour, but it still wouldn't go through. The second time hurt more, and I couldn't do it anymore. I put it away.

A few days later, I looked at my ear. It was extremely red. It looked like it was going to bleed. It had a dry skin type deal doming off around the hole. It didn't smell bad, but I could tell it was infected. The second one did this the next day. Both my ears were sore. I left them to heal, not thinking it would be smart to put an earring back in. two weeks later, my ears were sore, slightly red, and mostly sealed up.

I found two little diamond studs, and pushed them through. This is when I realized that they weren't going through right. I got a safety pin, and pushed it through. With a tiny pinch, it slid through easily. I followed it up with the earring. After doing this twice, I had my little studs in. I let them heal, and with a lot of care, a week later they're fine.

I started stretching them recently, and they look fine. This time, I am doing it right. I got tapers, and I'm not skipping gauges. Most importantly, I'm cleaning my supplies properly. What I did was not smart, and led to a lot of pain, and didn't get me anywhere.

If you want to stretch your ears, please use tapers, or something of the sort that is recommended for use. Never use unclean household items. I don't advise doing anything I did, as it was a dick move, and caused a lot more grief then it was worth. I am currently at a 10g, and want to go up to a 2g. I hope to achieve this soon, within the next few months.
