This is a story of how I got my first piercing in my left ear and got addicted to where I have 35 piercings in it today. It all started in the mid 1990's when we were leaving a local mall after having my then, 9 years old daughter's ears and my then 14 year old son's left ear pierced. on the way home my wife said to me, "why didn't you get your ear pierced, then we would all have our ears pierced" (she already had hers pierced). I was surprised at that response from her. A couple of days later I was in the area of the same mall and I went in and had my left ear pierced. That is when it started and I was hooked on getting pierced.

I also did a piercing in the center of my upper counch.
A couple of years ago I decided I wanted cbr's in my ear. I ordered 14 cbr's in 3 sizes over the internet. After they arrived I went to a friend of mine who is a tattoo artist, who has done several tattoos on me. The new cbr's were a larger gauge than the earrings I had in. He also is a trained piercer, but he is not piercing at the present time. He said he had to stretch the holes. The first 4 went pretty good but as he got into the cartilage it got a little harder. He tried the fifth one, but he said it was too much of a stretch in the cartilage to do it all at one time. He really didn't want to hurt me too much. The rest of them he stretched part way and put some of his cbr's in my ear that were a smaller gauge than the ones I bought. After letting these heal a little I went back and he stretched them the rest of the way and put in the cbr's that I bought. It took four sessions until I had all of my own cbr's in my ear.
This past Christmas a year ago I went to another piercer and had a 15th ring put in the top of my ear. Later during the following summer I started going back to the piercer and had more added. doing two, three or four at a session. At one point he stretched the piercing in my upper counch and put in a short curved barbell. I now have a row of 18 piercings from my ear lobe to a ear head piercing with a circular barbell in it. The rest are cbr's. Just inside the row of crb's I have a row of ten barbells or curved barbells starting with the one I had stretched in the center of my upper counch. Around my ear canal I have two rooks, two snugs, two tragus and one anti-tragus piercing. If you add them all together it comes out to 35. There isn't too much room for any more. I want to start on my right ear with a industrial. The piercer that has done my last twenty piercings is very good. He has 14 years of experience and is quick. When I had him do 4 at one time in usually only took about 15 minutes to do all four, unless there was some excessive bleeding, which happened on two different occasions.
I am very pleased at the way my left ear looks. I am asked a lot of times, "how many holes or piercings do you have in that ear?" I also have several other piercings including: a septum, tongue, labret, Madison, right nipple (my left nipple migrated out from having too large and heavy jewelry in it) and several genital. Some of these I got from two other piercers. These piercings I got because I saw them on this web site and I liked what I saw. The ones around my left ear canal I got because I also saw them on this web site. I intend to have my right ear pierced with almost as many piercings in it as my left ear.
I found out that getting your ear pierced at a regular piercer, with the proper equipment, is better that going to a mall or doing it yourself. The healing time seemed a little shorter and there was less pain afterwards and it is also more sanitary.
So you see, getting an ear pierced at a mall can lead to and addiction like mine did. I have more piercing planned other than my right ear.
If you desire to get your first piercing, go for it. But remember that it is better for your ear to go to a reputable piercer than to a mall. But be ware, it could get to be addicting. I know I found out that this is true.
