Okay so I'd seen the Tragus piercing on a few people before and I thought it was a pretty cool place to have pierced and I thought about it for a while and decided that I REALLY wanted it.

I'd already checked with my mom and she said it was cool so one day when my friend and I were in the city we decided to go and get pierced. I obviously straight away knew that I wanted my tragus and so we walked in and made appointments. Unfortunately we had around 2 hours to kill so we went and shopped around the Queen Street Mall for a little bit then when we went back to the piercing place we were still a bit early so we went into the tattoo parlor across the hall from it and looked at all their different tattoo pictures for fun and for future reference.

Finally the time came and we walked back in. That's when I started to get nervous; I'm a bit of a big baby when it comes to needles even though I already have cartilage and bellybutton both pierced. I filled out a small form but they still had me on reference from the last time I was there for my bellybutton so that was good! Then after that was done I handed it back to them and they did some stuff on the computer before asking me to pick which barbell I wanted ( they use barbell's to pierce with rather than rings as it heals a LOT better! ). So anyway I picked my barbell and she went off to put it into the autoclave for 15 minutes to make sure that it was sterilized properly.

After about 5 minutes I was escorted into the piercing studio room and left with my friend outside to wait. I was a little angry since the last time I went I had someone in there with me so I complained a little and they let her come in at the last minute after me sitting alone for 10 VERY LONG minutes of sitting there squishing the two smiley face stress balls that she gave me. Although they had been squeezed so much that they weren't even hard anymore haha.

Before the piercer or my friend came in two girls who worked there came in and started to set up the needle, clamp etc, pulling them out of clean sealed bags showing me that they were new and un tampered with and then I started to get even more anxious and started asking stupid questions like "Does it hurt?". So one of the girls said it's just like getting your cartilage done but I didn't believe her after anyone that I saw I'd ask if tragus hurt and surprise surprise every response I got was like YES!

So after they set up the piercer, a long with my friend came into the room bringing my jewelry and my friend brought a big thing of chocolate to 'raise my endorphins' haha that didn't work(:

So anyway the piercer cleaned her hands and put on some gloves then she cleaned out my ear then marked it and waited for me to approve it and I did straight away, I must admit that she placed it brilliantly first go. She then put on the clamps which hurt a little but not unbearable pain or anything more just annoying and then she put the needle through which seemed to take ages but my friend said that she had put a tube through as well for when she was going to put the jewelry in and she kept cutting it and fiddling with it because it was too long. After she got the tube right she put in the barbell and took out the tube and voila I was done. All i did to avoid the pain was squeeze my eyes shut tight i totally forgot my well thought last minute plan of pinching my leg tight so that i would be distracted hahah.

I felt nothing afterwards at all it felt completely fine it just felt a little warm and that's all. I walked out and paid my money for the service and the jewelry and they gave me a free piercing wash which I'd gotten for my bellybutton as well but I thought it would be easier to use a spray for the ear since it's a bit of a difficult place to reach around! So I bought the piercing spray and left feeling absolutely fabulous.

The aftercare was so incredibly simple I couldn't believe it! I didn't swell at all either and it healed rather fast ! I absolutely adore it now and couldn't picture myself without it I've had it for a few months and changed from the silver barbell to a gold half hoop (not sure exactly what they're called) but I simply love it.

If I had to ever get it re pierced I'd definitely use numbing cream as for me personally it kind of hurt but not unbearable or anything I mean it only lasts from clamps, needle, tube and jewelry for like what let's say 10 seconds? If that. To me that's worth it COMPLETELY!

I say get it. Don't worry about what other people think. Don't worry about pain. Don't worry about horrendous aftercare. Afterwards is a breeze! So get it pierced and enjoy it!
Good luck everyone out there and I hope that my story encourages you to pursue your piercing..!(:..
