So it's currently February of 2008, and my 16th birthday. Before yesterday (the 16th), I had 2 00G lobe piercings, 2 6G lobes, a 12G conch and a 14G helix. My mother had only signed for the first lobes, the rest were DIY's. My left ear is home to my inner conch, a piercing that's never been seen in my conservative hometown, and the standard helix lives in the right.

"Sick gauges!", or some other stupid comment, is all I'd ever get out of that ear. I felt it was time for some uncommon piercing in the right ear. Luckily, my birthday was the perfect excuse to start nagging my mom. So began the not-so-difficult task of getting her to agree to sign for it.
All the begging most have to do didn't consist of begging at all. Basically it was me asking questions like "So, should I make the appointment for Friday or Saturday?" and her just shaking her head for a few weeks. Eventually, we made a compromise. I'd get my daith pierced if I signed a piece of paper saying I'd never be tattooed or pierced ever again. I need to burn that paper. But anyway...
My boyfriend and I were heading out to Ann Arbor on the 15th to get food and bubble tea, so we first stopped into Pangea to make sure it was alright to get pierced at 15, to ask about ID, and to make sure that my daith was actually pierce-able.
We walked into the door, and JC was there. The boyfriend and I had gone into Pangea a few times before to buy jewelry, and JC stretched my lobes from 2 to a 0 back in July. He knew us by face, so that's always good. After about a minute of "Long time no see" conversation, I mentioned that I was coming to get my daith pierced tomorrow. We exited the shop and went into what was previously Namebrand Tattoo so he could smoke. Blah blah, we discussed what we needed to, and I learned to never buy Chiquita bananas. Age was fine, daith is pronounced, and he knew me, so ID wasn't that huge of a deal. (You'd have to had been there to understand what the banana thing's about.)
So let's fast-forward to the next day. It was 2:00, and we (My mom, myself, and my cousin) were in the car, driving to Pangea. I wasn't all that nervous or excited. I just wanted to get the the appointment on time, and that was really all that was on my mind. We got there at exactly 2:30, so that was good. The boyfriend was already there, which was also very good, seeing as I needed him for hand squeezing purposes. I told the counter bitch that I was there for the 2:30 appointment, and gave her my birth certificate and school ID. My mom was parking the car, so I told her she was going to be there in a minute. While she copied the stuff, JC took me into the piercing room to pick out jewelry. I had a 16G CBR with a gemstone ball in mind, and luckily, the had one in sapphire. It was beautiful.
So mom arrives after a few minutes, filled out the paperwork, and went into the piercing room once again. JC got all of the presterilized equipment out, and I talked to my cousin and boyfriend. After everything was set up, JC talked to me about the procedure. He was going to use some tool that looked like pliers to hold my daith, I was to breathe in deep, and he'd pierce me once I exhaled. My cousin freaked out because she thought it was going to crunch a ton. Unfortunately, it didn't. It did a little, but both JC and I expected more. Oh well. It hurt a lot less than I had expected as well. It felt more like a tough lobe piercing...
JC made sure I wasn't feeling feint, nauseous, ect. Nope, nope, and nope. I got off the bed/bench whatever you call it and checked out his work. It was absolutely perfect. He went over aftercare, my mom and I paid, I gave him a $25 tip (wish it could've been more), and went to KMart to drop off my boyfriend and I. So far it's only a day old, but it isn't sore or anything. I can imagine it'll be hard to mess this one up. It's in my ear, so I doubt it'll snap on anything, and my ears too small for me to touch and pick at it. I hope this one stays beautiful.
But now my right ear is cooler than the left... Can't wait until I burn that document and get a tragus on the other side :)
