I decicded to get my conches punched. Piercing my conches wasnt ever really an option I considered. I already have a decent amount of mods, including recently 1/2" lobes, and 14 guage medusa. My boyfriend was planning out a bunch of piercings he wanted to get, concentrating on his ears. This made me think about how my ears look. They looked pretty boring. With only 7/8" lobes at the time and an industrial in my right ear, as well as 3 other regular lobe piercings in my ears, something had to be done. I had recently decided to continue stretching my ears to a goal of 5/8". This prompted me to take out my other lobe piercings, becuase they were getting in the way and getting all out of line as a result of the new stretching.

I liked the look of labret studs that i have seen around my town. Of course after browsing BME for a bit I saw how nice large gauge conch piercings look. I figured this would be a nice way to fill up the empty space in my ears.
My boyfriend had decided to get his tongue pierced horizonally, as well as a few other mods, but was waiting for the tygon to come in. During this time I was debating on getting my conches punched or getting my nape repierced. I figured that I could get my nape done at another place this summer at home if I wanted to, but if I wanted my conches, Andy was the guy to do them. Eventually the tygon arrived and we headed off to Northbay.
The drive to Northbay almost always involves a trip to live once. This time we were both excited for work to be done. I had decided to get my conches punched at 4 or 2 guage depending on what worked better. So we arrive at the shop, and wait for a bit to tell andy we had arrived. We waited a bit more, and talked up the guys at the counter. When it was time for our piercings, the lovely boy decided to go first, which i preferred because I wanted to watch.
They started off with piercings his ears at 6 guage, and tapering to 4, and piercing his eyebrow a second time. His tongue was fun to watch, there was a bit of difficulty with the actual piercing, but it turned out fine after a third try. It was then my turn to get in the chair. Andy figured we should do my conches at 4 becuase they are rather small. I was fine with this, ahhaha, as i figured it would hurt less. My ears were marked and cleaned and marked again. Andy is very good at explaining everything very clearly, so he made sure i knew everything that had to do with the procedure.
Right before my ears were about to get punched, one of the balls on my boyfriends new tongue piercing decided to fall off. This was delt with by Andy's apprentice Chris during the procedure.
So, I layed down, and felt the punch against my ear. It felt really sharp, and I figured it would hurt, a lot. It didnt. Same thing for the other ear, but that time it hurt a lot, espcially the jewelry insertion. We decided to go with pyrex tunnels. Afterwards, I realized the noise I heard was the crunch of my cartiledge, but I didnt make that conncection at the time. They didnt bleed as much as I thought they would, which was nice.
Afterwards, they stung a lot, (obviously). I paid, and everything was a lot cheaper than I had anticipated, so I left the guys a tip. The boy was left some supplies in case his balls fell off again, and we left. That night was rough sleeping.
As of right now, about a week after, my ears dont overly hurt, unless I touch them, or if I sleep on them. I soak them once a day with salt water, and rinse them well in the shower. In another week, I think I will take the o-rings off and give them a good cleaning, but i dont think thats a good idea right now. I kind of wish I was able to get them done at 2 gauge, but I do really like them, and healing should be interesting. I still havent decided what im going to do with the space in my left ear, I might punche my flats at a large gauge, or i might tattoo them. We'l have to see. I have an appointment for my first tattoo soon, and Im pretty excited for that.
