Ok, so I don't really know where to begin here. I guess I've kind of always been into body modification since probably three years ago when I was 13. I had my ears pierced when I was seven. And cried like you wouldn't believe. My mom had to beg me to get the second ear done. Fast forward to about 6 years later when I was 13, and I got my second holes. Now I'd rather not go into details about that, but, the lady did not know what she was doing, and plus it was Claires after all, where they only need 2 weeks of training to be able pierce people. And plus its not good for your ears, it tears the skin instead of making a clean incision. Well one was too high, and one was too low. One got ripped out of my ear, and the other one the back fell off of it. So, I just gave up on that idea.
At A Glance Author Jordan (sierra) When It just happened Artist Ryan Studio Inksmith and Rogers Location JAX, FL My mom is really anti-piercing. I mean she hates body modification. So it was hard at first to persuade her. After my failed second holes attempt, I decided to ask for something else, my cartilage. I was nervous about asking, because I had a feeling she'd say no. But, to my surprise, she said yes. So we went to this place at the beaches, and we got the forms to go get them notarized. It took my mom weeks just to get the forms notarized; she kept putting it off. And then when we finally did, she kept putting off going back to get it done. So I finally got tired of bothering her, so I just let it go.
Then 3 years later when I turned 16, I asked my mom again and she said yes. She actually suggested the idea of getting 2 in one ear instead of just one in one or one in both, which really surprised me, but I wasn't going to say no to that because she actually suggested it, and she usually says no, so, 2 was what my eyes were set on.
We went down to this place near my house, Inksmith and Rogers, and the piercer there told us that I had to have some form of identification, which I didn't, so we had to go down to the DMV and I had to get an ID card. I was thinking "Great. Another few weeks to have to wait." But I think my mom felt bad because I've waited 3 years for this, and she said she would take me and she never did, so this time she got things done quicker.
After getting that and the forms all signed and ready to go, we went back. I wasn't really nervous, honestly I try not to be because that's just going to be more pain on my part, and I really didn't want that. We sat outside on the bench and waited while my piercer Ryan got all the supplies together. He called me back, and I walked down this hallway to a really small room in the back of the shop. I could feel my heart racing, and I didn't really know what to expect. Sure I've read lots of stories on BME, but I mean the responses and experiences varied from person to person, so I had had no clue what I was in for. He marked a couple of dots, and i looked in the mirror to see if i liked the placement. I wasn't really paying attention, so I was like "sure i like where they are." Really I had no clue how far up or apart they were, but I trusted him, so it was all good.
He cleaned my ear with some iodine solution, and then the big moment arrived. He took the needle out and lined it up with the first dot he made, and then began to push it through. I thought there in the beginning, "Oh this isn't that bad." and then he kept pushing and I thought "Holy Crap this hurts!" It's so quick, that it's hard to remember what it felt like. It's a burning sensation, with a lot of pressure. On a scale of 1-10, I'd probably give it a 4,or a 5. I mean it hurt but only for one second, and then it was just throbbing afterward. I wasn't particularly excited about the second one though. The first one was already throbbing, but surprisingly, the second one hurt no more than the first one. It was the same burning sensation followed by dull throbbing.
I got an aftercare sheet, and was told not to play w/ or touch my piercings while they heal and to clean them three times a day. My mom paid him and then tipped him and then we left.
I really glad I got it done. I mean it didn't hurt that bad and it was really quick, so, I would recommend this piercing to anybody. And if you're scared about the pain, just relax and don't worry about it. If you want something that bad, then pain shouldn't be a factor in getting it, and once you have it, you'll never regret it.
Hope this helps everybody,
Jordan :]
