I wanted a piercing. I knew that much. But which one did I want to choose? After browsing through pictures and stories on BME, I knew the one for me. I wanted to get my tragus pierced. and not just one. I wanted both.

Now that I knew what I wanted, the time came to choose the place to go. I talked to my lifeguarding teacher (who has hers done) and she recommended a place about 45 minutes away. I figured if I liked them, I'd drive the distance. However, on the phone with them, I just wasn't feeling them. They seemed rude and slightly standoffish. So off onto another search. Somehow I stumbled on a review for a place called Liquid Chaos. So I called, and immediately knew that was the place. The guy I talked to on the phone was informative and definitely much friendlier than the guy from the other place. Now I knew where I was going, now I just had to wait for my birthday to come around, seeing as I was 17 at the time and my birthday was the next week- I thought it would be a good birthday gift to myself.

So after waiting what seemed like forever (was only about a week and a half), the day arrived. I hadn't slept hardly at all the night before, partly because I was studying for two major tests and the other half was because I was so nervous/excited. School was unbelievably slow, then hockey practice seemed to last forever, but I finally got home, called my friend Alissa and told her it was time. So we were off.

The first thing I thought of was of how small it looked, but of course size doesn't matter. The thing that kinda freaked me out was as I was walking up to the front door (of course it was locked and we had to go around to the back) I looked in the front window and saw a guy that was getting an industrial! Talk about a front row seat to freak me out a little bit. We walked around to the door and once inside I was immediately impressed with how clean and immaculate the place was. Very professional looking. All the guys were amazing too. Knee, the guy who was going to soon be sticking a needle through my tragus, introduced himself and had me sign the papers and all that fun stuff. Once he saw my drivers liscense, he broke out into a wonderful round of "Happy Birthday to you"- which definitely helped ease my nerves at this point, seeing as I was so excited/nervous I was nearly shaking.

While he was getting the needles, clamps, and rings (right in front of me), he was also busy answering questions from my friend Alissa who was curious about almost every single piercing and where it went. I think Knee was impressed that I was able to answer a lot of her questions about the locations (courtesy of all my searching on BME). Anyway, he got all the wonderful tools, then led me down to the last room where I had a window seat and was able to watch all the cars speed down the street. While he was getting prepped, he showed me his portfolio (pretty impressive might I add) and I seemed to be getting more hyped up and excited, which made me even more nervous. Alissa promised to hold my hand and believe me, I took her up on that offer.

Reading about all the different expericenes on BME, I wasn't sure what to really expect. I heard some people can't even feel it, some people say it was the most painful piercing, and some say they only heard a popping noise. For me, personally, it hurt like a bitch. I'm not even going to try to sugar coat it. The good thing is it only hurt for about 15 seconds or so. But that was only the first one. So as he was putting the ball on, I said how it hurt and Alissa asks me if I'm sure I want to do the other one if I know it's going to hurt. HAH. I'm not about to wimp out now! So on to the second one. He marked it, just like he did the first one, clamped it, and BAM! Felt just about the same amount of pain. But, as the old saying goes, no pain, no gain...

So I looked at my new piercings and remarked on how amazing they looked! I was definitely happy with how they turned out. There was no bleeding on my first one, and very little on my second. So he gave me after care instructions, paid, and I left, much happier than I had been going in.

Overall, even though they did hurt, I would definitely recommend them. They are a little sore right now, seeing as I got them done a little over an hour ago. But they look beautiful and I will definitely be going back for any future piercings and tattoos. They are very professional and laid back at the same time. My kind of atmosphere! If you live in the metro- Detroit area, I definitely say go to Liquid Chaos, you won't regret it. =]
