For weeks before my 15th birthday I've wanted to get something new pierced. I already have the bottom of my navel and I used to have my eyebrow done until it rejected so I craved something new. I thought maybe my eyebrow again but I didn't want it to reject again so I said screw it. Something on my ear was the only reasonable choice for my age and my body's ability to heal. (My navel still hasn't healed and it got done almost a year ago!) I thought conch for a long time but then I saw the industrial and remembered how I loved it a lot. I knew I had to get it. And my mom was on board with giving me parental consent for it too.

I'm right handed so i tend to want things on my right side. I got my eyebrow done on the right side and I wear more bracelets on my right side and I sleep on my right side. So i went with the left. (I would NOT want to sleep on this baby!)
Where should I get it done? In Ottawa, NO places will pierce you under 16. Some used to but now it's only 16, 16, 16. Even with parental consent it was 16! I called every single reputable shop in town and the only place that didn't really care as long as you had a parent was Silverline. (I got 2 piercings there when i was 14) And they're extremely reputable. Very clean and very sterile and awesome staff! So I chose to go back to Silverline after the only 2 piercings I got there have been extremely problematic. Really hope my navel will heal soon! :(
So I plan a day. The saturday after my birthday. Since Silverline is downtown, and my parents hate driving downtown, it would take a lot of persuasion. My mom ended up taking my brother down to do something else so she said "Next Tuesday, we'll bus down," I said sure and waited.
Tuesday came and it was FREEZING RAINING outside and mom said we probably wouldn't go. I was really disappointed that it wasn't working out. Later that day (today) it got a little calmer so we decided to bus down. I took my best friend Tiara with me to go in with me while my mom went and got coffee.
So we got to the shop and it was looking really quiet. A piercer came out and said hi that i've never seen before so I figured she was new. But I didn't know she was new to PIERCING. My mom signed me off, I paid up 90$ and me and Tiara went into the little room to get pierced.
After lots of preparation, marking, cleaning, swabbing, checking, double checking and tons of pictures we were ready to get this show on the road. I wasn't nervous because well.. I just don't get nervous before piercings since I'm weird. She put the clamp on and told me to take a deep breath in. Inhale, exhale, needle was through. I expected a bit more PINCH but all i got was CLAMP. Hahaha. I didn't know it was through 'cause it just felt like she squeezed my ear. But it was. Then was the second hole, inhale, exhale, done. Easy. Then she fiddled for a bit and got the bar in. Ball on. Perfect. Then came 5 minutes of cleaning. She cleaned it so much, wiped all the blood off (I'm not a bleeder, really!), wiped off more blood. Check. Then I looked. It was sooo beautiful and perfect! I've never been happier with a piercing.
She was really excited too and asked for a pic for her portfolio. She said she's only been piercing for 7 months and hasn't gotten a portfolio done. I swear my eye twitched for a bit then I remembered how perfectly she did it and how happy she was. So I was incredibly happy too to be her first "Perfect industrial!" as she said.
Ottawa winter's are incredibly freezing so as soon as I walked out those doors, paid a nice 5$ tip and went outside into the freezing, the bar started to get cold and my ear started gently throbbing. I was feeling a bit shaky so I asked my mom to get me an Orange Julius. (Mmm, best drink ever)So we rode the bus home and here I am typing up this story. I don't even feel throbbing anymore, it's just sitting there playing nice and being perfect.
Props to Halley and a sexilicious, PAINFREE piercing of sheer awesomeness!!! I recommend her to anyone. Fill her portfolio up; she is the best piercer I've been to so far even with her little experience! :)
