I'd like to start out by saying, like many others have, I am no stranger to body modifications. Indeed, I have twenty different holes distributed throughout my body, including two in my bellybutton, a self done nipple, snake bites, 6 piercings in one ear, and (now) 9 holes in the other. My parents are cool with most of my piercings, we have a sort of deal going on; I keep the rebelling and craziness to a minimum and in turn they let me get my piercings with little to no grumbling. Some piercings they aren't cool with, but I'm slowly wearing them down to the idea. ;)

Anyway, I rediscovered the existence of industrial piercings when browsing this Website one day, and I thought they looked pretty cool, but at that time I had my heart set on (and still do!) on two hip piercings, one on either side(I'm still working on my parents for these). Skip forward about a month and a half, and I find myself with the familiar tingle that signals oncoming piercing desperation. Since I had made no leeway with my parents over the hips, I revisited the industrial and steeled myself to do it. I knew they wouldn't really care because it was an ear piercing.

So here I was, out buying Christmas presents at the Station Mall on Friday December 21st, when I decided I might as well go out and do it. I figured the worse that could happen was that Annipeg would tell me I needed a parent's signature to do it. I walked ALL the way to Annipeg all by my lonesome, it wasn't a long walk but I was lazy after my mall adventure. I strolled into the store, which only had a few girls sitting on the couch (probably either getting tattoos or waiting for someone who was getting a tattoo), and spotted Ivan lounging towards the back of the office. He jumped up and came to the counter to meet me, and I asked him my customary questions ("can you do it?" Yes "How much?" $75 "Do I need a parental figure?"No) I think he was kind of surprised I was going to do it right then and there, but handed me the clipboard to fill out and went into the back to clean up. After a few minutes he came out to collect me and led me into the familiar backroom.

I should mention, by this time, that I have been to Annipeg once before, to get my second lip piercing of my snake bite redone again and I just fell in love with Ivan (at least I am pretty sure that's what his name is, I apologize if it isn't), best piercer I've ever had.

So back to the story, I'm positively bouncing from excitement in my chair (they have the most comfortable chair EVER!) while he's getting all the stuff out and ready and making small talk with me (he remembered me from the last time I was in, except then I was a brunette instead of my natural blonde). He washed his hands, put on the gloves and began marking the placement. I don't really remember what all he did next, I was too busy asking him about the corset piercing we had been discussing the previous time I was in, but I do remember the sharp pain, slightly less in intensity than a bee sting, and my first thought was "wow he pushed hard with the pen that time"

....Yes I am naturally blonde. I didn't realize he had the needle until I felt him start fiddling around up there and saw the cork appear in my line of vision as he grabbed it. He asked me if I wanted to wait a little bit before he finished it, and, clueless me, I thought he meant putting the jewellery in so I gave myself a few seconds before telling him to finish it off. It definitely wasn't the jewellery he was putting in, as this time it hurt quite a bit more, I think I even flinched away about, but it was a short pain that didn't last long. Next thing I know we're done and I'm sipping on orange juice while we're talking about strip clubs and weird piercings. I felt no nausea or light-headedness, so I was quickly on my way out (after paying the $75 and my customary $5 tip) after he gave me a rundown of the all to familiar aftercare instructions and the baggy of sea salt.

Today is my second full day having the pretty bar in my ear and it HURTS. Okay maybe not that bad, but it aches like a toothache, which I find is typical of every piercing I've ever had. I'm keeping it clean with two sea salt soaks a day. As of yet my parents haven't noticed, but that probably won't last too much longer as I'll probably end up showing them myself.

In conclusion, I recommend anyone in the Sault ON area to visit Annipeg. They're clean, friendly, professional and downright awesome! They are my go-to place for all my other planned piercing work. Especially since I discovered I only have to be 17 without a parent's signature to get my bellybutton pierced and not 18 as I originally thought, so look forward to hear my adventures of my THIRD bellybutton piercing (bottom) within the next week or so. Toodles.
