Alright so I'm all of twenty years old. I'm female and really new to the whole body modification thing. I would see people on television with all sorts of awesome tattoos and piercing and mod's. Some of them made me go "ooh" others made me cringe, but all of them inspired a definite curiosity. I would always just assume that kind of stuff wasn't for me. But then I said to myself I said,"self" "Why not? "

I'm all for hard core, but to look at me you wouldn't know it. I have two holes in my lobes, but, I mean, thats pretty unspectacular. I have one tattoo but it's small. I'm only now starting to get into this stuff. I'm really cautious and I didn't want to rush into putting holes in my body, and I had to be certain that I wouldn't wake up the next morning and be pissed at what I did. coupled with that, I live at home with my parents and they are old fashioned, stogy, stick in the mud conservatives, I didn't want tot do something that would terrify and upset them too much. I spent a while surfing BME trying to decide on a piercing that I liked that wouldn't upset the people in my life with sticks up their ass. I went with the cartilage piercing. As far as piercing go i figured it was safe enough.
So a good friend of mine has an up and coming piercing shop. She seemed like the perfect candidate to help me out with this. So I called her up one afternoon and told her I wanted an industrial piercing. I bought an awesome industrial bar from the mall. Tangent: I always wondered, is an industrial just a fancy way of say two cartilage piercing? There is a lot more I want done, but I'm starting slow. Anyway my friend, She seemed super excited to be putting a hole in my face, i mean, goodness what are friends for right? We chatted and decided it would be alright to do this piercing at my house. I invited her over and after allot of talking we got started on the whole messy procedure.
I sat down in the kitchen and she went of to sterilize the needle with alcohol. I was really excited about getting it all done. She swabbed my ear and then pushed the needle through my ear. She didn't even warn me before she did it! I was a little surprised but it didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would. It was just a quick pressure. Then pushed the industrial bar through, well I think thats what she did. I wasn't in front of a mirror , so I wasn't exactly in a position to see. she then pushed the needle through the other side, the second time hurt allot more, but it still wasn't all that painful. SI was all hyped up so I was almost disappointed that it didn't hurt more. HA, that is such a sadistic thing to say, but it's true. She finished and then cleaned up and lo and behold I had a shiny new piercing in my ear. It was awesome.
Well it hurt for a little while, of course. Lucky for me I have super short hair so I didn't have to worry about hair getting tangled in it or anything like that. Unlucky for me, I'm accident prone and at least five times a day I would find something to bump into, always on that side. But I got used to the pain quick. I cleaned it two times a day with bactine. I couldn't stop playing with it at first and had to force myself to leave it the hell alone. It's been a few months and it still hurts occasionally when i hit it against something, but that seems like common sense more than anything.
After about a month or so I developed a tiny little bump on the inside of my upper ear where it curves a little , it hurt like a bitch! I've seen the same kind of thing in other pictures of pairings so I wasn't really to worried bout it. It's still there, but I'm not worried about it. It doesn't hurt anymore, and i've learned to just leave it the hell alone, and it's really not a big deal.
It's convinced me even more, that I want to continue to get more mod. done. I've always been into that stuff and now, I'm stuck..I can't wait to get something else done!
