To start off, I am fourteen years old and I love piercings that are cute, but not anything completely exotic. I have six piercings all together as of today, and about an hour or two ago I got my rook done. My rook was my 4th piercing this year. I got two helix piercings in May, my nose piercing was done in February, and standard ear lobes when I was a baby. Anyways, the story.

Morris, Michigan After my helix piercings, I promised my mom I wouldn't get anything else anytime soon, but of course, I knew that wasn't true. School got out in June, so I begged my mother all summer long for a bellybutton piercing but she wasn't really giving in on it. She said 'in August'. Well, that never happened. I knew it would probably be some time before I could get it because my dad allowed me to get my nose pierced in February but he said no more. We didn't listen =D. So recently, I was thinking since summer is over and no one would see a navel piercing on me because of the weather changes and what not. So, I asked, "Mom, how about another ear piercing?" She didn't say no, but she gave the 'we'll see' answer. I wasn't in much of a rush so I decided on either a snug, rook, or daith piercing. I wanted the snug the most.
Today I went school shopping with my mom out in Birch Run Outlets which is close to the piercing/tattoo place I go for my piercing needs, Acid Works. So, while in the car, I was just sitting there listening to the radio when my mom and I started talking about the ear piercings. I asked if we could go today seeing how close it is to where we were, so, she gave in and made sure I knew this was the last piercing for a while. I agreed and we headed over to Acid Works! We pulled in, but we thought it was closed because no cars were in the parking lot and it is Labor Day weekend. We decided to go and check, and my piercer, Jenny, was inside. I told Jenny I wanted a snug piercing. She set out the supplies and told me how rooks are better and complications of a snug. I thought for a minute and right away, I changed my mind. So instead, I went with the rook. I went up to the table and wrote out some forms that I didn't have any diseases and I'm not pregnant. I don't see how an ear piercing could effect your pregnancy...
My double helix piercings on my opposite ear weren't healing with 14 gauged barbells so while there, Jenny switched them to 16 gauged captive bead rings. She changed my helix jewelry first and then the piercing would come. She finished with supplies and since I have had anxiety problems, I broke out with an anxiety attack rash that I often get. It was weird, because I wasn't really nervous. I was more excited. Anyways, I noticed Jenny had a rook herself and it looked adorable on her so I couldn't wait to get mine. My mom sat in the corner of the piercing room as Jenny and I talked about random things. Then, she was ready to pierce.
I love getting pierced by Jenny because she doesn't count to three. I hate counting to three. Instead, she simply asked if I was ready and I gave her the go ahead "yes" and she shoved the needle through. Everybody, really, that was probably the most painless ear piercing you could get. I read previously on here that it hurt so bad and it was tear-jerking and stuff. It's not at all! In fact, so far, I haven't had my eyes water for any of my piercings. Wooh! Jenny said she likes how I don't give her a hard time. I don't. Actually, if you make a big deal about it, the more it will probably hurt. She put the barbell in after she pulled the needle out (I don't really like CBRs for a rook piercing). Like usual, I received my aftercare sheet and a nice little purple card with the workers' numbers on it. Then, she was excited to show me her cute portfolio book. We looked at the piercing book, then 2 tattoos she had done on one of her friends and her boyfriend, then headed out.
My rook piercing is so cute. It is later in the day and I can't even feel it. It is worth it, and it doesn't hurt at all. To me, anyways. Everybody's pain is different though so maybe this piercing won't hurt for you and you should get it if thinking about it. HAPPY PIERCING EVERYONE! =D
