I have always wanted to pierce my ears ever since I was young. I loved the thought of having earrings, but wasn't allowed to have them. I let go of the thought, and didn't bring it up again. That is until 8th grade when my brother brought a friend of his to our house who had one inch lobes, I immediately brought up the piercing situation again. I researched stretching ears online, and found BMEzine. I was immediately drawn into body modification since then. I knew that if i wanted any modifications, I would only be able to get my ears done until I moved out. So, i started asking my parents about letting me get my ears pierced. They refused, but I kept on telling them about how my sister has 6 lobe piercings, a tragus piercing and an industrial, but they wont let me get my lobes pierced. It was a very convincing argument, but my mom wouldn't hear of it. My dad had nothing to say, because he had his ears pierced when he was young, and has many tattoos.

Later on when my dad got home, he talked her into letting me keep them, and she eventually came around and even started to like them. Then school came, and I couldn't wear earring in high school, because I attend a catholic school. So, I promised him and my mom that I wouldn't stretch my ears like my brothers friend, but was allowed to stretch up to an 8 gauge. Anyways, 3 days after piercing my ears i stretched to a 12 gauge. I let that heal up for almost all of summer, satisfied with the stretch because I thought that the plugs looked so big. I eventually felt the need to stretch again before school, so i purchased acrylic tapers then went to an 8 gauge. At this time I was in school, and had to find a way to hide my plugs, so i bought clear plugs from and clear o-rings. This worked well, because it is such a small gauge no body even noticed. Different teachers noticed now and then, but didn't really care, so I was able to wear them without worrying during certain classes. My ears healed at 8 gauge very nicely, it was close to my birthday, and I was telling all my friends to get me 6 gauge plugs, but then I saw some four gauge plugs that I really liked, and decided to stretch to a 4 gauge. I got plugs from my friends, but unfortunately all of them were double flaired 4 gauge and very difficult to stretch with, eventually I got them through with some vasaline and some good old fashioned elbow grease. Even though i was skipping sizes, my ears seemed to be doing fine, and nothing was wrong.
After the break, i was able to take my plugs out during school without them closing. after a while, i had the urge to stretch again. Even though i knew it would be difficult to stretch during school, I borrowed a pair of 2 gauge spirals from my friend and stretched one friday after school, I kept them in that weekend, and then took them out for school on monday. Even though they were not healed yet from the stretch, I was able to keep them out during school, and easily put them back in when i got home and everything seemed to be going fine with my ears. But, my mom kept talking to my dad about how much bigger the holes in my ears were getting. My dad personally didn't care at all, he didn't like the idea of me stretching, but realized it was something that I wanted to do, so he partially accepted the fact.
Then, my mom started getting extremely upset about them, and wanted me to take them out. I refused, but was no longer able to wear them with my parents knowing. The school year ended, and first day of summer I stretched to a 0 gauge, since I couldn't wear them at home, I stayed at friends houses for weeks at a time to let them heal. 2 weeks into summer,I purchased a pair of silicone 7\16 plugs and let them heal by staying away from home. I plan on doing the same thing up to a half inch, and then stopping until I am 18. If you are in school that doesn't allow piercings, I advise you not to get them, even though my ears healed fine, I went through a lot of trouble, and your ears might not heal as well. When i reach 18, i plan on getting my ears up to at least an inch, and getting several more modifications and tattoos, BMEzine has really opened my eyes to a whole new world.
