Hi, My name is Suzanne and i'm 38 years old. Oh I can hear all you young ones going oh she's so old. I decided to write about having my tragus pierced mainly because most of the writers are so young, and wanted to show that you are never too old.

I have the 2 standard lobe piercings which I had done at the age of 8, with a needle may I add, and I think I screamed the place down, not because of the pain but because of the freezy stuff
they put on me. I also have a high helix(1 week ago) and a low helix(15 years ago). I had my nose pierced 2 years ago but developed a keloid so I had to remove it because it looked like i'd got a wart on my nose, not nice, luckily it has gone away but I dare not get it done again. I also
have 3 tattoos, 2 of which are being removed at present, these were done when I was 18 years old, and also my belly button pierced but that migrated and has gone from a 10mm piercing to a 6mm but has stayed at 6mm for over a year now so fingers crossed it won't grow out.
Anyway when I was about 21 I was having my hair cut and noticed that the hairdresser had a weird
piercing, she told me it was a tragus piercing, i'd never seen one before and thought she was mad to have her ear pierced there, and that's the last I thought about it. The thing is at this time piercings were very rare, as were tattoos, although they were starting to catch on with women.
But here I am 38 years old sat on the bus when a bunch of school girls get on and low and behold one of them had her tragus pierced and it just looked so cute, well that was it, I just had to have it done.
I went home got on the internet and stumbled across BME(thank you), I showed Rich my partner the
pictures from the BME site and he said fine go for it. So off I go to Tattoo Inc, this is where I got my nose done and it's a lovely place. Hayley does piercing part-time there and like going with her because Niel although a lovely guy scares the crap out of me (sorry Niel but you do), anyway I decided on my right ear, she marked me up and I had a look and before I knew it it was all done. I got the usual after-care instructions and also some cleaning spray. I had it pierced with a needle and had a
small BCR put in as Hayley says she prefers these as they are easier to clean and take care of.
I have to say, I didn't look at any of the preperations, I didnt see the needle or everything that is used but I was aware of the russle of packaging being opened and gloves being taken off and others put on. I didn't look because I was laying down with my head turned and doing my steady breathing routine, it helps me stay calm and also Hayley was able to use my breathing to insert the needle as I exhaled
slowly. Yes it did sting, no I didn't hear any crunching or popping sounds and it did bleed ever so slightly. It was probably slightly less painful than a helix piercing!
I slept on it that night with no problems, cleaned it as told to but about a week later I developed a small sore patch which then developed into a small red lump and was very itchy, I left it another week but decided I would have to take out the piercing as it was really irritating me :0( best thing I did) the lump has gone and although it's still healing at the moment it is healing flat, so no keloid. I have since gone and got my left tragus done with Hayley. So far no problems. It's been about 3 weeks and its all fine. I've now decided to get a forward helix done, and cant wait, but that will be my last ear piercing.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my expierience and okay i'm 38 but i'm now wanting another tattoo(this isn't going down well with my partner). See like I said you are never too old.
Good Luck all of you getting tattoos and new piercings. Remember to do your research, go to a proper piercer or tattooist and please please don't do it yourself at home!!!!!!! I've loved reading everyone's expieriences on here but worried about some of you piercing yourselves please be carefull.
See I am getting old, oh well never mind.
