I first saw the Industrial piercing whilst in the waiting room of Studio 9 with my friend and instantly fell in love with it. After my friend had her ear pierced I decided to talk to the piercer about the industrial. I had already had a cartilage pierced in Studio 9 and knew that it was a very good piercing studio. He told me about the procedure and the cost and well pretty much everything I wanted to know, he was really helpful actually and quite friendly. That was my mind made up and so I began to plan a trip to the piercing studio.

After my talk with Rob (the piercer in Studio 9) I came back when I was next in Southend-on-Sea to make an appointment but Rob wasn't busy so I got a slot right then and there which was great, so I got it done. The piercing was done really well and the experience was great. Firstly Rob gave me a couple of options like degree and location of the piercing using a bar so I could see the final effect then he explained the process and that I would have to have rings for a few months to ensure good healing.

Then it was time. So we moved out of the waiting room and into the room... which was actually really nice it had some pretty cool pictures and some nice crazy tiles- which I must admit amazed me. We spent a while admiring the decorations and I was very pleased to see how clean it was. While we sat admiring the pictures Rob went around setting up the equipment, he placed paper towel down and opened the packets. He told us that the equipment had been sterilised in Studio 9's sterilisation room in their autoclave machine, so I knew everything was going to be really clean and sterile. He then sterilised the rings and the equipment in a gel. Sterilising my ear to ensure everything was clean it was all ready. So I lay on the 'bed' (which was oddly comfortable) and got ready. I was a bit nervous as this was only my second piercing but with my mates by my side I had the first piercing- to be honest it didn't hurt as much as I thought and Rob had struck up a conversation with me and my mates so I felt relaxed throughout the whole experience. He changed his gloves after the initial piercing and then put the ball into the BCR. He then changed his gloves again for the second piercing which hurt a lot more than the first (actually it hurt a lot!) but it was over really quickly, again he changed his gloves between the piercing and the BCR completion- I was really impressed by the cleanliness. He then checked the piercing for any blood, which there wasn't (thank god!) and then let me look in the mirror. I loved the rings but couldn't wait to get the bar put through, it looked really good and I was surprised by how accurate the piercing was.

Afterward Rob ran through how best to look after and clean my piercing and actually gave me some really good advice. So off I went really pleased with my new piercing.

So, three months later I returned to Studio 9 after following the advice about caring for my piercing. Rob checked the piercing and was happy that they had healed well, so he began to measure my ear. He ran me through the sizing and what was best; I listened to his advice and picked the 30mm length bar. He laid down paper and sterilised everything. He took another look at the rings before removing the balls from the BCRs. He then removed the rings, dropping them into the sterilising solution and taking the industrial bar slid it through both piercing holes. It was quick and painless and when I got to look at it in the mirror I was so pleased. He took the two rings and put them in a small zip-lock bag for me to keep. It was perfect and looked as good as the picture in the foyer I mused as I left.

Ever since I have had loads of comments and questions about the piercing and have been very pleased to tell the tale. I talked to a couple of mates about the Industrial one of whom had had it done a month earlier. We got talking and she agreed that Studio 9 had done a very good job and that the service was really good (and so was the price!)

I would defiantly say that my piercing experience was a good one and that anyone thinking of getting it done should defiantly go and make that appointment! (It does hurt, I wont lie, but it is totally worth it!)
