It had been about a year since I got my labret done and I was hungry for something else. I didn't feel like getting another facial piercing and I had been told my tongue was not able to be pierced, so I decided I would get something on my ear done. After looking at different piercings I decided I would get an industrial one because I figured if I didn't like it I could put a couple of rings in instead, or even let one hole heal up and it wouldn't be a complete waste of money.

Now, when getting this piercing there are a couple of things to factor in, one of which I have yet to of seen anyone mention but thankfully thought of myself. If you don't care about which ear you are going to get this done on, do it on the side you don't sleep on. I read horrible stories of people who had slept on it and woke up to some pretty nasty situations, the other word of advice I give is pretty obvious, buy decent stuff to clean this with, it's a piercing that can apparently get infected easily, thankfully I didn't find out.

Anyway, I planned a day to get it done and went into Bray and into Nine Lives, but sadly they did not have a long enough bar so they couldn't do it, but I would not accept defeat, thankfully Ireland has a good few piercing places that have high standards, so next was Celestial Ring, and this was a nasty shock, they wanted ID, and although I looked and was over the age I had none with me. Things were looking bad but this was the only day I could get it before I went on holiday, so I tried one more place, Metalmorphisis, and thank God, they could do it in half an hour.

I went to a bar to get a cup of coffee and a bite to eat as it's always recommended, and went back to the place. I filled in the form and paid the money, now this cost me 70 euro, for the Americans out there, that's about 100 USD, and I first thought "Wow, this is costly" but then again, you are in a way getting two piercings and it's in a good place, so I figured it was worth the money.

I went into the room and had a look around, everything was clean and the woman came in, I can't remember her name, but she was dead sound, I was told to count to three, and as always she put it in when I was only on two. Now in all honesty, this piercing does hurt a little bit more than usual, but don't let anyone saying the likes of "it's the most painful one ever" put you off, because it's not that bad and if you want something a little bit of pain should not get in your way. She put the bar in and screwed the balls on and gave me a mirror, I loved it. I thought it looked great and it was positioned perfectly.

I then bought some cleaning solution because one can never be too careful. I then cleaned it every day three times for the next three weeks, over the last week this has been reduced to twice a day. It has never bled which is great and didn't swell up too much at all. I am so pleased with this one that I am getting another one right under it when this fully heals.

Now, as to what other people thought of it, all feedback has been positive, people seem to love it, and where I live no one really has this sort of thing done so for them it was the first time they had seen something like this and I will admit, I did enjoy the attention from the females.

This piercing does however have some negatives, one being that my hair got tangled in it once, I don't know how, but it was annoying to remove. Also, I took the bar out the other day and I found it a bit tricky to get in, now that's mostly because I had never put one in before and will need to get use to it, hopefully I will.

Metalmorphisis was great though, the last time I got something pierced I chose the cheap option, I was lucky enough to get away with it, but a friend of mine wasn't and the result was nasty, so for any piercing I think that paying a bit extra is a good idea. I read a few stories of people attempting to do this themselves, and the never seem to go well, so I really recommend not doing that, for your own safety.

Good luck with yours if you get it done, just remember to look after it and it should be fine.
