Ok, First I would like to thank BME for having all these real experiences to read... if not for you, I wouldn't have this beautiful new bar going through my ear. :)

I'm turning 16 in 2 months, I have my lobes done twice, and my cartilage twice on the right side.Oh,and now my Industrial on my left side.
I have always loved mods of all kinds. I can remember when I was little admiring my older cousin for all her piercings ( she had everything pierced under the sun). The day my mom let me get my second cartilage piercing was a big mistake. I caught something..I got the piercing bug. Oh what a nice thing it is! It had been about 2 years since my last piercing and I had started craving for another. I had wanted my nose done to begin with but when I asked my dad he just looked at me and said "Hell No" with a blank face. Ok.. theres no fighting with him, so that was that.
Great... now I have to figure out what I want. There was still a lot to choose from for ear piercings. So I went to work, researching and finding any pictures I could of any types of ear mods. I kind of liked the Anti T.. but after pinching that with my nail and instantly getting little waves of pain stream down my body, my first thought was "Ha-Ha, NO way". So I kept searching.
Then I found it. The Industrial. What a perfect name for a perfect piercing. It was amazing.. it was balanced and beautiful yet edgy and unique. This was the one for me. So after reading on BME every experience story I could and researching everything I could find, I asked my mom. "we'll see". YESS!! SWEET VICTORY!! (with her that means yes)! And another good thing was that I had just gotten my paycheck.. so that means I could pay for it all myself so she couldn't say "ohh I don't have enough money right now."
Ok, lets jump ahead a week. It was Tuesday the 24th. My friend and I planned to go together so she could get her cartilage pierced again. So after our parents filled out the paperwork and all that good stuff, the piercer Kenny called us over. "Can I see your proof of age please?" My friend Megan pulled hers out as my jaw hit the floor..*hitting forhead* STUPID STUPID STUPID ME!!! ughh I forgot it!! I seriously felt tears coming to my eyes. My mom told my she would bring me back the next day. Oh no.. I'm not giving up that easy. Then I remembered.. My dad should be on his way home and might be close by and he has my permit in his car!! So I snatched my moms cell phone out of her hands and called my dad.Thank the almighty Lord, he was 3 min away from where we were. After hunting him down and getting my permit we drove back to Out On A Whim (which I might add was a very very clean, organized, laid back shop). My friend was nice and waited for me before she went. So she got her cartilage done and all that went smoothly. She said it didn't hurt (which it doesn't). AHH!! Me next!
I get into the chair, nervous as all hell. He's talking to me about how it everything will be done, he shows me how everything was just opened and is new/clean and talking a little bit after care. He marks my ear and tells me to go ahead and look at it. It's perfect. So after jumping back up on the dentist like chair he puts the clamp on. My exact words were "hey...that kinda hurts". It was a tight pinching pain but nothing you can't stand. So he tells me hes ready and on a count of three he's going. A quick 1,2,3 and 0o0o big pinch! Then he doesn't give you time to think about the pain before he does the second hole, which is good so you don't have time to comprehend the pain.An even quicker 1,2,3 and OH WOW...I can feel it get a little stuck half way through. I'm not going to lie. It hurt. But nothing too extreme. I didn't scream or make any noise I just started breathing a little harder. And my eyes were closed tight, Putting The jewelry in was just a tiny pinch, nothing bad at all.He said he was suprised on how well I took it. My ear was red.. but it didn't bleed, it wasn't swollen. It didn't even hurt. There was a slight pressure but that was all.
Now for cleaning. He gave me a small bottle of some type of liquid to mix with a whole gallon of distilled water to clean my ear with, and a type of special ointment to use for 3 days. I have to clean it 3 times a day. Not hard to remember right? Well, today is Thursday. It's been about 2 days since I got it done and it looks great. There's the slightest bit of swelling ( you can't even see it enless your really close to my face), it hasen't bled, there isn't any puss, and I even roll onto it at night sometimes and theres no blood on my pillow at all... just a drop around the piercing itself.I can talk on the phone with that ear, it doesn't hurt too bad when I catch it on a shirt, and I can't even tell it's there.
My experience has been amazing so far. I know I have a long road ahead of me but hopfully it will be a good one. To anyone who is thinking about getting an industrial..Yes it hurt a tiny bit but it was so worth it. I fall in love with it more every time I look in the mirror. It's such a beautiful piercing. It goes great with my Pink and Blonde hair. Any to anyone whos is in the Northern IL area..The drive to Dekalb for Out On A Whim is so worth it. I can't even say in words on how great they were. Kenny was absolutely AMAZING, He knows what he's doing. And again.. so any of you who arn't sure if they want to do it or not because of the pain factor...just do it.. it's over so quickly and it's not that bad. Honestly.Well Thanks for reading. and if you have any questions please feel free to E-mail me. Happy Piercing~Amanda
