When A week ago
I had been wanting a Cartilage Piercing for years. I saw one when I was 10 or so. I thought it was so cool. Unforunatly I was to scared to get one. Don't ask me why, I can normally handle pain. It didn't help my family didn't approve. My mother just about went crazy when I told her I was having my Cartilage pierced. She's normally understanding when it comes to piercings, but for some reason she hates cartilage piercings. I have no idea why. (Now, months later she has *her* Cartilage Pierced...*rolls eyes*)

But I decided it was *my* body, and I was going to pierce anything I wanted to. At first, with my new found confidence, I wanted my tongue pierced. Then I wanted my lip pierced...But within minutes I decided to start with my ear. *lol* An ear piercing seemed like a good place to start. (Maybe next time I'll have my Tongue or Lip pierced....or maybe both?)

The next day I found a piercing shop. I stood outside the store for five minutes, willing myself to go inside. Finally I went into the piercing shop! (I forget the name, it was a long time ago) And asked for a Cartilage Piercing. I filled out some papers and in a few minutes I was called back. I sat down in a small, padded, purple chair. The chair looked like it belonged in a Pre-School! *lol* But the place looked clean, and that put me at ease. The procedure was really easy. I barely felt anything. When the needle went through my ear, my eyes watered up a bit. But it wasn't to bad. To be honest stubbing your toe hurts alot worse. The piercer gave me an aftercare sheet and sent me home. I felt a bit dizzy when I stood up, but I think that had more to do with the fact that I had skipped breakfast.

One my way home I stopped and looked in just about every mirror I passed by! I loved how the small blue stud sparkled in my ear. Neatly hidden behind the curl of my ear, you could only see it at a particular angle. (Later I would change the stud to a larger gemstone)

That night I cleaned my ear, and went to bed. But I couldn't sleep on my side that night, which bothered me. I loved my new piercing, so I didn't mind much. I had a hard time falling asleep. I kept thinking the earing would fall out. In the morning I was relieved to find my earing exactly where I left it...in my ear *lol*

I *loved* my new piercing, but a few days later my ear started to swell up. With any new piercing you'll experence some swelling, so I thought it was normal. I just cleaned it some more and went on with my day. No big deal, right? (Now I know your ear shouldn't swell nearly as much as mine did) My mother commented on my swollen ear...She didn't like my piercing to begin with so I thought she was just trying to get me to take it out. (I was wrong)

A week or two later it was definatly infected. The area surrounding the piercing turned bright red. I tried just about everything to get rid of the infection. But nothing seemed to work. After a few months of trying to ward off the infection I took out my earing. About a week later the infection went away, but I thought the hole had already closed up. I was left with a small scar on the back of my ear. You couldn't even see it unless you knew where it was. It looked kind of like a small freckle. Soon I had forgotten all about my piercing.

Five months later I really wanted my something pierced agian. And I remembered my Cartilage! I knew I wanted it Re-Done! But I didn't want to pay agian. I ended up taking the earing out anyways, why waste anymore money? I could Re-Do the piercing for free! So I went into my bathroom and found an earing. I sterilized it and pushed it threw the hole. And to my amazment it went right threw! There was just a thin piece of skin I had to push threw. It didn't even hurt. My Cartilage has been Re-Pierced for about two weeks. No problems What-So-Ever! I'm so incredibly happy. I love my Cartilage Piercing. And I'll never take it out agian. All my friends *love* my Cartilage! Three of them had there's done to! (Not to mention my mother had hers done)

I don't recommend DIY Piercings, just because my DIY Re-Piercing worked out fine doesn't mean it's safe. If you want something pierced get it done *professionally*
