First off I would not recommend doing any piercings yourself. It is not always the smartest thing to do but im not here to lecture you so whatever..

Ive always liked the way many piercings have looked for as long as I can remember but my parents never approved of anything. I had to beg my dad to let me get my second wholes on my lobes done for my 16th birthday!! He says when I turn 18 and im not living in his house I can do whatever I want to to my body! Well Ive wanted my cartilage done for a few years now and my parents never gave in to it. I think a part of it was that I was alittle scared too cause all my friends that had it done complained on how much it hurt and how they couldnt even touch it without it hurting. Well I did some research on the piercing, the aftercare and the healing process and decided I was going to do sometime if i had to do it myself. I was over at one of my friends house and I noticed that she had gotten her cartilage done and she asked me if i wanted mine done. I responsed to her with ridiculous excuses like what if my dad finds out, or what if it gets infected, and I was too scared of needles or whatever.

Finally she had talked me into it and she sanitized everything with rubbing alcohol and numbed my ear with ice. I heard a pop sound and asked her if the earring was in and she said yes and I put the back on!!I did feel quite a bit of pain after the earring was on and had to turn off her fan because the wind was making it hurt really bad!! Maybe im just a baby but i dont know. I was very surprised that it didnt hurt near as much as I thought it was going to even though it did hurt.

When I got home I decided that i didnt like the earring that was in it because it was too big and i didnt want my dad to see it!(I showed my mom and she was pretty cool with it which was surprising to me!!) So I decided that i was going to try and change it myself.(mistake!!) Taking the earring out was extremly painful and I sanitized my other earring and tried to put it in, come to find out that I could not get it back in! I applied alittle more pressure and heard a really weird noise which wasnt anything I had ever heard before! When I looked in the mirror I couldnt believe what i was looking at!! The post of the stud had slid up to the top of my cartilage!!(yeah oooouch!) So I pulled it out and finally after fighting with it for some time I got it to go back through the whole. I almost retired the piercing but decided that even though it may have not been the best desision for me to do it myself, but I had been waiting for sooo long to have it done just to let it close up!! The next few days was quite sore and I was starting to regret what I had done. I was really sore for the first week or two but this week its really started feeling better and ive started sleeping on it (without applying a lot of pressure) and it seems to be fine. I would recommend not using the cheap cleaning solution that claries or any places were they are running back and forth to help customers as they are trying to pierce your ears but go to your local tattoo parlor or piercing parlor and see what would be best for your piercing! Its been 3 weeks almost and Im very happy with the piercing!! Its still alittle sore but from what i have read, thats normal.. Its amazing how many times you realize you touch you ears a day!! I was told to only clean it once a day because if you clean it more it irrates the piercing!! For right now im sticking with the stud but the butterfly back is VERY annoying since i have really long hair and it gets caught on the back and pulls it and its really painful!! I plan on using a labaert stud(sp?) when its finally healed and see if that doesnt help any!! It is the beginning of my vertical industrial that im going to have to wait until I turn 18 to finish which is in a few months!! Ill update you guys on my piercings when it happens!! Until then best of luck to you all and future happy, safe and healthly piercing!!!
