I've always wanted an industrial, I believe since I was in the second or third grade! Well I always asked my mom and grandma if I could get it, they said no it's so ugly. So after I turned eighteen, I had a job and didn't have any weekends off. I'm thinking "What the freak this is what I've been waiting for and now I gotta wait even longer!!"
At A Glance Author Mari Contact Mari@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Mike Studio Underground Location Olean, NY Well finally on June 22, 2007 I made my way to Olean with some of my girl friends. We got there, finished my cigarette, then we all went upstairs. I went to the restroom and the lady who works at the desk asked who needed what, they said an industrial and that she was in the bathroom. She then said it would be about an half hour (it's walk in on weekends), and then there was a few piercings in front of me. She asked if we were gonna leave and come back or just leave or just wait. So I'm like hmm do we wait, or go do something then come back. Decided to do something, then come back. So we went downstairs to the shop and looked around. I bought an eyebrow/tragus ring, and we looked around the eighteen and older section (well only one of my friends and I). Then for what seemed like no time, our time was about up so e finally made our way back upstairs and the people who were there before us went in and got their piercings.
FINALLY, it's me! He comes out and goes, "Who's for the industrial?", I'm like "ME=)." I walk in and he's like "You know this is really gonna hurt?" I'm like "Yeah, that's fine." So I sit down, then lay down, he puts his gloves on, then cleans my ear, and marks it. He then gets the jewelry and needle our (still in their package though, and never opened), shows it to me while it's in the package, explains to me about it. I then hear him opening everything. He then tells me to take a deep breath, and breathe easy and all that good stuff.
I feel him touch my ear, then it goes through the bottom home, not bad at all. Then he put the barbell through that one, then comes the top hole a little more painful, but not that bad either. He puts the barbell in that hole, looks at me and goes, "are you okay?". I'm like "yeah, I'm perfectly fine!!" "How many fingers?", he says, I was like "none," (and I'm thinking oh my goodness did I turn white or something?). He goes "good that was just a test." He told me I have very high pain tolerance, because 95% of everyone else who gets it does screams, hollers, calls him all sorts of names and everything. Then he ask me if I can stand up, well yeah! of course I can. I stand up, once again he asks if I'm okay, (I'm thinking either I'm really white or he's really amazed at how well I did with the piercing). He goes even though you say you're fine, with this I'd like you to take a seat before you walk down all those steps. So I go out, take a seat, all my friends come and look and they're like oh my goodness we heard him say how painful, we were listening in on everything the whole time. Did it hurt, (a little), oh my goodness Mari you're so brave, that looks like it hurts so bad. Mike comes back out, are you okay, yeah I'm great, are you sure, yes I'm sure. Okay then you can go, but be careful. So we got up and left!
It's been two weeks today since I got it done, and tonight I'm going back to get my tongue =P. The healing process so far hasn't been that bad, it's a little sore, but nothing intolerable. The first night I had it though, I was at a friends and my ex-boyfriend and I were being dumb and he kind of bumped my ear, which made it bleed and I didn't even know it until I went inside. That's the only time it has ever bled. Mike said it'll be about 6 weeks, but I'm a fast healer, so hopefully it will be sooner. It was done in 16g, but I can never find any jewelry in that size so I believe I'm going to have to gauge it. To clean it, I use betadine about once or twice a day, and when I'm in the shower it gets cleaned with soap and water. Mike said betadine or sea salt is good, and that he knows I know how to take care of them so whatever I do is my choice.
The industrial was deffinately my most painful piercing yet, that's for sure. My bellybutton, tragus, eyebrow, or other ear piercings like NEVER hurt. I would reccommend the industrial, but be aware that there definately is pain involved.
I now want to get an rook, daith, conch and snug for my ears. Piercings are definately addicting, but I don't think I'll get anymore than those for my ears. As for anything else, I want to get my tongue done and possibly a nostril ring, but that's about it. Then I will move to tattoo's =D.
Happy piercing!
