It was my 19th birthday and my good friend at school Emily said she would take me down to a shop of my choice and let them punch whatever hole I want into my head face or body. She was planning on getting her nose pierced and she dragged along her wuss room-mate hoping that we would be able to talk her room mate into getting her lobes done.

When we got down to Yankee (a half hour walk in blistering Vermont cold, my birthday is February 9th) there was a line that literally ran out the door. Apparently many other people were celebrating my birthday with piercings.

An hour-long wait and we were up. Emily went first, a small hoop in her nose. It was my turn. Rob has done lots of piercings for me and I trusted him completely. He knows who I am and how I take care of piercings, Leave It The Hell Alone (litha) so when I sat down all he said was, "you know the drill, ready?" I felt like a regular at this place and that's a great feeling.

I got it done and it went with out a hitch and I got a small 18 G hoop put in. All things considered I think it would have been impossible to get Emily's room mate to get anything done. This girl thinks that a day with only one nap is one where something big has been accomplished.

We practically ran back to our dorms because it was so cold out. A few days later in class Emily came in and sat down next to me with her nose all red and shiny with a red bump growing. It looked like a zit. She said that she was afraid of what was happening and asked if when I got my nose pierced if anything like that ever happened. She was uneasy when I said no.

My ear had also been itching and burning for the past few days, not a normal invent in the healing process that I had come to know and love.

Winter break for UVM came and we both went home and while I was at home a bump started growing on my tragus piercing. I was horrified. At the time I had 13 piercings and I had never had a keloid. I didn't know what to do and I didn't know how to make it go away and I was away from my trusted piercing artist and I was at a lost. I called Emily to share my shock and confusion with her. She also had a keloid on her nose. That was the red zit I had seen earlier. But she had the foresight to call Rob at Yankee and ask what to do. "Hydrocortisone." was all she had to say to me. I went to the local CVS and bought I think 5 or 6 tubes of this stuff that she and Rob both swore would get ride of my keloid fast enough.

After a quick stand off with the girl at the counter over why I needed so much I was well on my way to healthy piercing healing.

This product is a miracle worker. I had never even imagined it to work so well. I applied it as often as I could remember and within literally 48 hours my burning itching keloid was a thing of the past. I was thrilled. I have several friends who all live day in and day out with nasty keloids growing on their ears but none of them seem as eager as I was to get rid of something as nasty as a small solid lump of nasty.

So for anyone who ever gets a keloid, just remember hydrocortisone, as often as you can and your problems will be a thing of the past.

This experience with Yankee should not in any way reflect Rob's piercing abilities. Like I said I have many done by him and none of them had problems. There must have been something in the air that night that led to this disaster. He is one of the nicest guys I know and he won't do piercings that he doesn't think are a good idea because he doesn't want his name tied to any bad piercings. So the last thing that I want to do is tie Rob's name to a couple of poorly healed piercings and have you all walk away thinking that he isn't the seasoned professional that he is.

And as it turns out the keloid wasn't the end of my life, or my love for piercings, and it was much easier to heal than I thought it would have been. I can not stress enough how fast and easy it is to get rid of a keloid, no one has to live with them! a tube of hydrocortisone will solve all your keloid needs.
