Well my experience probably starts out like most peoples about stretching their ears. I got my ears pierced when I was eight at claries in the mall with a gun, which I now know I should not have done.

I have always liked stretched ears on people, but I never thought they would be for me. I changed my mind about that when a good friend of mine was talking to me about how much she liked hers, and how much she enjoyed the process of stretching them. That same day I got her old taper and decided to start stretching them that night.
When I first started stretching my ears, I was not aware at all of the different sizes there were, and that you were not supposed to skip sizes. That first night I took her taper that went to a six on the end and started pushing it through my ear. I though I was going to be able to get it completely through, but after barely any of it going in, it hurt way to bad to keep going. I called her and asked her what I could put in it for now, until we went to go get actual gauges the next day. She suggested paperclips, since she thought i was around a fourteen, but since I'm allergic to metal, I could not use them and I had to let my ears go back to eighteens.
That next day after school we went to our local mall and into hot topic (since that's basically the only place you could get anything like that) and we started looking at our choices. I figured since I had already gotten my ears to a fourteens the night before, that I did not need to buy sixteen's, fourteens or twelve's and that I could just go ahead and stretch to a ten. My friend got herself fours, since she was ready to stretch hers again, and about ten minutes later in the mall bathroom she got them in. I tried to do the same thing without the taper because they had a pointed end that started small, maybe at a fourteen. After about fifteen minutes of struggling with them, I gave up and decided to wait until I got home.
As soon as I got home that night, I got on the computer and looked up tips to put them in my ears. I found that putting hot water on them helped, and using some kind of lubrication for them. I was going to wait to get in the shower to do it, but my sister was taking too long and I didn't want to wait any longer, so I found some Neosporin, which was the only thing I could think of to use, and shoved the ten in my ear, which was probably one of the most painful things I've ever felt in my life.
My tens soon healed, and after about four days I didn't want to wait any longer to stretch them, so I got some eights from one of my friends, and tried to shove them in my ear. They went in much easier then the tens did. And about four or five days later my eights stopped hurting, so I proceeded to do what I thought were sixes.
I picked up the taper my friend gave me in the beginning, and she told me the end was a six, so I started to put it in my ear. I wasn't expecting it to hurt as bad as it did, but I finally got it in. I picked up the sixes to put them in my ears, and they slid right out. I thought it was normal, so I just put them in, put the o-rings on the ends, and went to sleep.
The next day I woke up and my ears were all pussy, bloody, and slightly swollen. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I compared the sixes to the end of the taper and the taper was much bigger! I figured it was about a four, and since I already had a pair of them I put them in my ears. My ears were still sore but after what I had gone through I didn't want to let them downsize.
My ears are doing fine now and i can not wait to go to twos, and after that zeros, double zeros, and so on until i get to five eighths, I am pretty sure that is the size I am stopping at. I now know skipping all the sizes that I did wasn't very smart, and I wouldn't advise anyone else to do what I did. I could have ended up ripping my ears, or worse.
