Hey, Im Beth. I had my tragus pierced for my fourteenth birthday on the 2nd of December 2006. I must admit I hadn't been thinking about it for that long really, but I had checked hundreds of photos on BME and decided that it would be perfect for my first proper piercing ( I don't really count lobes as a piercing. I'd also read God knows how many stories and decided it would be worth the pain and that this infamous popping sound might be quite amusing... (which by the way I didnt experience)

I didn't have the fifteen pounds myself,as Im not the most sensible with money, so I asked my mum if I could have it for a birthday present. She thought about it and soon agreed. She made the appointment and as the day grew increasingly closer I was ridiculously excited and nervous. My friend had also decided she wanted hers done too (which I wasnt thrilled about, but I didn't mention it) so we spent our lessons in school trawling the internet for videos of the piercing. They were horrifying and terrified me but just out of stubbourness towards the other girl, I had to get it done :P

For the week before my piercing date I had my friends pinch my tragus as hard as they could to 'prepare me for the pain'. Im pretty sure they enjoyed it a little too much though :P ( it's actually quite a fair indication if you ask me)

They day came and I made my way into Newcastle to meet a couple of my friends then them, myself and my mum went to the piercing clinic. It was in a sort of office block in Chinatown and although it took us a while to find the right room, it was clean and minimalistic. We finally reached the clinic and were greeted by a bright, colourful and happy room. A display counter showed the types of jewellery there was. There was also a warm and inviting waiting area with (up to date) magazines and plenty of chairs.

I waited for my turn which only took about five minutes. By this point I was a quivering wreck and when the piercers asked me how I felt I replied with 'is it going to hurrrrt?!?! They were reasurring and told me it was one of the most painless piercings I could have. They asked me if I had taken any asprin that day because it can thin the blood and lead to more bleeding than normal.I had taken ibuprofen but that didnt seem to make much difference to me. They lay me on the Doctors type bed and I lay on my left side as I had the left side pierced. ( If you are having trouble deciding which side to pierce just imagine you've had it done and put your hand up as if your going to twiddle with it or something, and just go with your instinct ;D ) It comforted me that the amazing looking woman who it turned out would be doing the actual piercing, had her tragus done too. She told me I wouldnt be able to have a tiny little stud like hers until mine was fully healed. She marked the the spot and the other awesome looking guy reassured me it was going to be easy. She lined the needle up to the spot and pushed. There was no pop, and only a relative amount of pain. She then tried to insert the ring and fix the ball onto it. This was somewhat trickier and the pulling was the most painful part. In a few minutes this was done.

I stood up and he gave me and my friends some sweets so I wouldnt get a head rush and they wouldnt get moody :P we then ditched my mum and met loads more people and went for a meal... the trouble was I couldnt concentrate on my food when there was such a lovely new piercing to stare at :D

There wasnt much blood but I insisted my friend took me home and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned my new baby until I was sure I wasnt getting a nasty infection. At first I used dettoll diluted disinfectant ( you honestly can use it on wounds) and then soon moved on to savlon wound wash spray ( sooo easy to use, just spray it on and go)

I love my tragus and I have a tiny little stud in (tiny being the oprative word) just like my wonderful piercer :)

Next Im thinking a hip surface piering :D but it creeps my friends out alot.

I will be definately going back to PX for my other piercings, I trust them 100%

Hope this helped x
