Having had my lip pierced a year ago, and then having to take it out due to work, I was thinking of getting another one, something I could wear to work and wasn't all too noticeable.

I've always liked the look of an industrial piercing, so I talked it over with my friend who had hers done, and decided "Hey! Why not it's my day off", so after meeting some random emo people at the train station in town we headed off to the piercing parlour.

There wasn't a queue so I more or less was taken right in after filling out all the necessary forms. There was a bed/chair type thing you see at the GP, lots of wee drawers and one big mirror. After being told to take a seat, my piercer Nicky went over what was going to happen, after marking the two spots on my ear and making sure I was happy with them (and saying I had a sexy ear :P) she asked me lie back.

She cleaned off the area, and asked me if I was ok, I told her I was fine, which was a lie, when it comes down to it I am a huge woos when it comes to things like this. I was nervous, and was sweating a fair bit. She lined up the first needle, preparing to pierce the first one nearest to my head, told me to breathe in, and out, and..lets just say, I was in agony, I really don't know why, I don't have very thick ear cartilage, but she was pushing the needle into my ear for about 15 seconds, before I heard the crunch and "Pop!", then without any breathing room, she lined up the second one and...

Yes! it hurt a lot more; it went through quicker but Ouch! she then let me have a quick breather before threading through the bars (I was getting two individual bars in, and then after they have healed ill get the barbell) I didn't feel the first piercing getting threaded through but the second one, I don't know what happened but it felt like it caught something inside my ear, and I kicked out at the air, it was that painful, just for the record I didn't even feel my lip piercing I don't know why this hurt so much. Anyway after it had all been done, and she gave me a glass of water and told me to sit tight for a while, I paid her and was on my way.

On the way down the road, my vision went blurry, I couldn't walk straight and I couldn't hear, the exact same thing happened when I got my lip done, I don't know if it's just because of the adrenaline rush, but I did what happened when I got my lip done, I sat down on the kerb in the rain for around 5 minutes and just calmed down, and I was fine.

On the way home my piercing throbbed a little, it wasn't agony but it was uncomfortable. Got home took some pain killers, and just watched TV, as soon as your mind is off the pain you don't notice it, and to be honest apart from knocking it in the shower, there wasn't too much pain, just stung a wee bit. Sleeping wasn't a problem either, went out like a light.

The next day, woke up, my ear was a little sore but again it wasn't agony, took a few pain killers throughout the day, nothing really to bother about.

So now today, I had work today and I ride a motorbike, thought I would try to get the helmet on but it wasn't happening and I didn't want to damage my ear anymore, so I settled for the bus. Got home cleaned my ear again, a small amount of blood had dried up at the base of the piercing, my ear still aches a wee bit, and hurts a lot if it's bumped but its only day 3, hopefully within 2 weeks ill be able to get my helmet on, but I don't want to rush things.

Over all, im really glad I got it done, yes to me the actual piercing hurt a lot, but after wards it's really just what you would expect for the first week or so, nothing too bad at all.

Wanting my tongue done soon, but will have to organize a few days off work due to the swelling, and I deal with the public on a day to day basis.

If you want an industrial, you should go for it, I know some people

don't feel as much pain as me; it just depends on the individual so far though hasn't been too bad, and I give the experience 2 thumbs up!
