Ok, I was thirteen when I decided that I wanted my Helix done, even though I hadn't done any research at all about the mod. I was watching TV sometime in June/July 2006, and I saw a girl with a Helix and I loved it, there was something unique about it, since most people in my school have the normal lobes or double lobes...and that's it.

Later that night I asked my mom if I could get it done, like usual, the answer was 'What...why would you want to get that done?..no!' so I suggested that when I get my first report of the next school year was mostly A's, B's and no more than two C's(school had just finished and I had a really bad report)I could get my helix done.

Wahey! During the summer I didn't really think about it, but I still wanted it really badly. So a new school year rolled around, I put more effort into my work than last year which resulted me with a report full of A's, B's and one C! When I saw my report that day in school, I instantly texted my mom and told her about my grades, she said she was surprised, and very pleased. Obviously she had forgot about her promise.

When I got home after school, I was disappointed to find that no one was home, but I amused myself, trying to imagine my mom's face while I was getting the piercing done. Around 7 o'clock when my parents arrived home, I reminded her of her promise and she was obviously surprised that I still wanted the piercing. Usually I get phases, but then forget about them after a month or so.

About two weeks later,(December 2006) I went to Leuven(a city in Belgium)which I knew had a piercing and a tattoo studio. Back then I didn't know much about piercings or studios so i thought the place was ok. I've read quite a lot now(June 2007) that you have to be 18, have ID's and stuff. But I'm not really sure. I just booked an appointment for 2hrs later.

To be surprised I wasn't nervous at all, I just couldn't wait to get to the studio. Finally two hours had passed and I headed back to the studio with my parents( How cool am I!?) While I sat on the chair, the Piercer talked to me a bit, but not much as he didn't speak English very well(I live in Belgium, Flemish & French speaking country)When everything was set up, I wasn't the tiniest bit nervous, he just told me that he was gonna push the needle through slowly, it might be painful, and I shouldn't pull away from him.

So the fun began. It was slightly painful, but tolerable, I didn't really notice it, as I was trying not to laugh at my dad, who was making weird faces, and was kinda white in the face. Hahaha!

The piercer took out the needle, placed the stud, and told me to clean it twice a day. He gave me a spare stud just in case(which i needed about 3 weeks later) and the total was €50.

I had chosen a bad time to get it pierced, as it was 4 weeks, before i went skiing, which meant I would have pressure on it for 8hrs a day or so. Even worse was when it got infected...was i forgot about cleaning( yes i know, silly me!!!!) I was in agony and i wanted to take it out, but after i took the ring out, cleaned it properly and and placed a stud in, it was fine. Now in June 2007, it looks amazing and I love it. I just want more piercings which...Of course, I am defenetly now allowed to get. My mom said that the helix was the only piercing i was/am allowed to get until i am 16( 2 years to wait!!Ahh)

If you want this piercing, I suggest it, since it isn't that painful, and it is easy to hide.Beware of stupid people at school(if you're my age) I got mine done on a Saturday, and of course, I had school on a Monday. It was still painful then, and in PE, when i had my hair up, a friend threw a ball against my ear and asked if it hurt? I nearly beat him up. Then three days later, another friends flicked the piercing and asked if it was real, and then pulled it to reassure her self. Then I got mad, but I did get my revenge on her when she got her first lobes done and i pulled at the stud and asked her if it hurt. She did cry( I wasn't expecting that!) and call me a fat B****. Oh well.

It was a great experience, and it encouraged me to get more mods, since i have a very high pain tolerance...really!

I think the only problem I (besides the infection!)that I got it done on my left ear, which I sleep on, and talk on the phone with so i was in a bit of agony over the first three months.
