Well to start, this would be my 2nd story on BME. My first one can be found in the nostril section under February 2007 which is titled "Pinocchio Pick".
At A Glance Author Jackie When It just happened Artist Jenny Studio Acid Works Location Mt. Morris, Michigan My name is Jackie and of course like most citizens of the world, I started with the basic standard ear piercing when I was 7 or 9 months old (one of those). Since I was already a cute baby, my two piercings made me even cuter. Of course I saw tattoos on many people and piercings which made me wonder..
I got my nose done when I was 13 years old by a studio in Mt. Morris called Acid Works. I love them! I got it done by the fabulous guy named Jedi who was very talented, smart, and wasn't a meanie. After that, I decided I should have a unique piercing that no one else had and wouldn't make my mom or daddy mad. That's when I found on BME something called a "Spiral Helix". I fell in love immediately :).
Well, I'm 14 now and about 2 months passed until I asked my mom for the spiral all of my spring break, the next week, the next week, and the week after that. I kept getting the answer of no which was not what I was hoping for. She did like that it was a simple earring and the only thing stopping me was my daddy. He threw a big no and I didn't ask. But, when he wasn't around, my mom secretly told me that she would take me this weekend which was today (May 5th, 2007). Since my dad was being dumb and faked sleeping so he couldn't say yes/no, my mom and I took off for Acid Works anyways.
I wished for Jedi to pierce me but sadly, Jedi doesn't work on weekends seeing how today was a Saturday. So we just continued to ride to the studio until we finally pulled up. My nerves were getting to me but I have no problems with needles so I had no idea why I was nervous. We got in the store and I saw about 10 people in the main part of the place and a piercer who once changed my nose jewelry, Carl, came to see us. We told him what I wanted and he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about but soon his girlfriend who also worked there, Jenny (another piercer) joined our conversation.
No, they did not have the jewelery I was hoping for. But since I was told I would be pierced by Jenny, I asked if I could put two rings in for now and she said yes and I could get them changed after they healed. I went into the piercing room which I was gladly familiar with and sat in the chair. This would be my 5th or 6th (I believe 5th) time in the chair. This chair is the only chair that makes me nervous and excited. I love this chair. :)
Anyways, I sat in there as my mom talked to Carl and I sat and talked to Jenny. Previously, she asked what size I would like, etc. But when I was sitting in the chair, I didn't feel all that nervous anymore because I looked around and I saw..
"Hey..isn't that Jedi?" Yes, mom there's Jedi! Soon Jedi came over and talked to us and was probably thinking "Wow she's back again".
While everyone was talking, Jenny was talking too as she set up all the needed tools and marked my ear and Jedi showed me his new shirts that he got from shopping. She marked like four spots and I finally chose the two in the middle. Jenny cleaned my ear off for the second time (I touched it on accident hehe) and very soon after, the clamp was on the bottom hole. She told me to breathe in then out and the needle went through. Yes, it hurt but it was half way over. It only took a second to do and soon enough, she was pushing the clamp on the top hole and in went the other needle. This one did it hurt a little worse but, she said I had a thick rim. So, maybe this piercing is a little painless to you.
Jenny seemed shocked that I didn't flinch for either piercings and Jedi knew I didn't flinch for my nose. I was shocked that I didn't bleed seeing how when I got my nose done, I bled a lot but still didn't flinch. I guess I'm good at tolerating needles. I went to look in the mirror and I loved it! I sat back down and Jedi spun the chair around and took a look. I guess he liked it because he didn't say anything negative about it. :)
We talked about aftercare and what not and soon we were out of Acid Works and back in the car on the way home.
Now I'm here about two hours later and I'm loving it. It still is sore but I can deal with it because I rock. So if you're ever in Michigan, GO TO ACID WORKS! They are awesome and the people there are very nice to me and in fact, Jenny said she would like to pierce me again someday. That "someday" will happen, Jenny! I'll see you in a few years! :)
